The Random Thought Thread

When the NFL uploads full games, they do it for one purpose, to assault you with ads. I shit you not I got an ad, when it ended I skipped 5 seconds, got another ad, when it ended I skipped 15 seconds(trying to skip past a long huddle) and over skipped a little, rewind 5 seconds, bam a third ad.

15 seconds of game skipped, 3 ads as a result.

also, side note, joe Flacco post 2015 was seriously so fucking bad, how did we not see it? That super bowl run really put some blinders on a lot of us.

I have a faster 3 cone time than ferg and my left knee is approaching arthritis. My fucking grandfather has a faster cone time than ferg.

FUCK what a shit draft pick he was. I saw it coming for 2 whole rounds and just knew it, and then bam there he is being selected, and bam there he goes doing jack shit, and then bam here he is in camp looking fat and stiff and slow and just generally looking a pile of shit on cleats.
Staying in character. Hold this W.

I think many of us saw it, but didn't want to admit how bad he was and would come up with excuses for why he was playing so poorly. I definitely used his leg brace for an excuse at one point and thought he would go back to "elite Flacco" once he ditched it. While he did seem to play slightly better once he got rid of the damn thing, you can only polish a turd so much...

Well, 2016 he got a "pass" for coming back from injury, so we figured he would rebound in 2017. He didn't rebound in 2017, and then we drafted Lamar in 2018.
I think everybody realized heading into 2017 that it was basically "play well or we're looking to get out soon". And he didn't.

Plus, even if you saw it after 2016, which would have been the earliest pretty much, it wouldn't have mattered. The colossal screw up that was the structure of his original contract in 2013 means we had to restructure him prior to 2016, which subsequently locked him into a roster spot through 2018.

Literally the only way we could have handled it better was:
a) don't do a ridiculously stupid contract structure in 2013 that requires you to extend/restructure after 3 years,
b) probably could have taken a QB in the 2017 draft instead of 2018, and just put Joe on the bench after either 16 or 17. Either we would have had to move up to get Mahomes or Watson (seems unlikely we would have), or we would have ended up with somebody that sucked, like a Kizer.

Thank fuck Dan fouts is gone because that would have been his crew for week 1 and I hate the sound of that [profanity deleted]’s voice

really happy we’ve got Harlan week 2 - my favourite play-by-play guy in the business
I loved watching Fouts play QB, but absolutely hated him as an announcer.

I've tracked all pre draft visits, meetings and workouts since 2013. The first time we met/brought in a 1st round QB was in 2016. 2017 Watson and 2018 Mayfield, Rosen and Lamar. Obviously there's a good chance we met with other prospects because not every meeting gets reported.
Our interest in QBs according to my logic started right after Flacco tore his acl in 2015.

I mean I think that's a bit of a stretch to call that "interest", and I certainly don't buy that we were even vaguely considering drafting another QB as of 2016. We would have been doing pre-draft visits with 1st round QBs like a month or two after we just signed Joe to a three year extension, which now made him under team control for 6 years.

2017 I can buy a little bit, but even then, anybody you draft would still require Joe to be on the roster through 2018, just like he was.

i think we technically didnt meet with lamar because we tried to keep our interest in him completely unknown

I don't know why but I have marked him on my list as private visit and latest modification date is before the draft happened...

Imagine if Frank Gore continues playing for 3-4 more years and is able to be on the same team as his son, Frank Gore Jr.

Also, on Jefferson, I found this from June, which I didn't recall reading...

Seems he and Boyle got into a back and forth over steroid usage...

Don't know how I missed that one. Pretty sure it was Jefferson that clowned him about his route running too and Boyke went back strong.

He looks like a piece of shit

Never stop. Still remember the draft

A few called him out while others threw the cape on for the trash play.

I really hope Rosen lands somewhere and ends up with another starting opportunity down the line. He’s certainly underwhelmed in the NFL but he’s also been in 2 of the worst scenarios imaginable. Would love to see if he could actually do something with a team that wants to win. I actually think the Steelers would be a great opportunity for him although I’d hope he doesn’t do as well if that happens

Okay I'm confused.
