The Random Thought Thread

I think with arguably more WR talent on the roster than ever, you'll likely see more swaps.

Bateman, Brown and Watkins figure to get a somewhat healthy rotation, and that's assuming we play a lot of 3 WR looks, which I don't know that we will. Duvernay figures to get more playing time this year also.
My only concern is Lamar trying to force the ball downfield more than necessary to his old buddy Hollywood, thereby making the offense predictable and inefficient. If he can avoid that, he's going to have a stellar year.

With Watkins and Bateman I don't see forcing the ball downfield to Hollywood happening.

I'm curious who draws the #1 defender.... I'd Imagine Watkins or Brown since Batemen is unproven. Whoever has CB3 covering them has to be Lamar's first look

I'm sure all the WR will be moved around the formation and most corners don't travel. I'd be shocked not to see Hollywood in the slot a lot this season. I'd expect Hollywood to have the number 1 WR when lined up outside for the most part.

This is insane....... all of this success because of one man. Thomas Edward Brady.

Edit: LMAO

After looking at our schedule again, ive noticed not only is our shit pretty tough, we play some of the best olines in football this season.. we may really need huston cause in reality im sure nobody really expects bowser to all of a sudden turn into some great pass rusher!

Anyone see the various Ravens players trying to open a blue crab? Hollywood was cracking the claws with his teeth! He is going to need dental
work if he keeps that up.

Nah, that's what those "grilles" are for my friend....

I remember last offseason when i was talking about browns, not a single person believed me that they would be a much better team than that 6/10 record showed lol

Browns are solid, same with Mayfield. Not sure why so many people try to knock him. Really excited for the Lamar and Baker rivalry for years to come

Browns are a loaded roster, baker has not been a particularly great qb, he’s been above average under good coaching with Stefanski, the leagues best OL, RB group, and a top 5 wr corps.

I’d say if you’re just serviceable with that supporting cast, then you are probably nothing close to a special qb. Baker could be replaced by half the starters in the league and the browns wouldn’t skip a beat.

Browns had a much more talented team than the 6/10 record showed and I agreed with you. I thought they would be closer to the 2nd half team than the first half team, especially with a new coach. I also like Stefanski.

100%. Give Lamar that line and those receivers, and we may be talking a season greater than 2019 MVP. Probably record breaking but that would never happen in Roman’s system because we’d never throw enough

Baker was coming off a pretty bad season and, let's be honest, the Browns usually live up to their name and play like shit. It seems like their franchise has finally turned a corner and should be competing for years to come although I still think Baker is overrated. I see them as our main rival for the division title this year and probably the next couple of years until Pitt can transition away from Big Ben and find a replacement (as for the Bengals, I think they'll be competitive, but I'm not sold on Burrow yet).

They’re gonna make another run, mistakenly overpay baker, make one or 2 more runs, then the roster will fall apart

“Mayfield be balling!” Yet he produces similar stats as Lamar without the running success and Lamar is deemed as struggling/regressing… Jesus you can’t make this shit up

In totality, I agree with you.

The narrative difference is that Baker was a LOT better in 2020 than he was in 2019, while Lamar wasn't as good by any metric. He wasn't bad by any metric, he just wasn't as good.

But I do agree that Baker in 2020, being "good", was about the same as a passer as 2020 Lamar, which was considered "a down year".

Reflection of one guy being an MVP in 2019 and the other being replacement level that year, which is what Baker was.

So struggling Lamar = makes no sense. Regression is kind of impossible to argue, based on statistical performance. But again, that's off a higher comp.

Just think it’s funny how some still don’t see Lamar as an actual Qb… so what does that make players like Baker, who have “good years” of similar passing stats to a down year from Lamar, and who can’t get good rushing stats? Punters??
