The Random Thought Thread

bisciotti's only "media" appearances since like 2017 have been on PSL conference calls
but he's never over-stepped and gotten in the way of football guys... mostly just in the background occasionally making suggestions but mostly just being someone to bounce ideas off and go to for advice (for example suggesting that if flacco was definitely our guy, that there was no point risking someone jumping us and just trade up and go get him and be sure)

would be wild that owners would be thinking about getting rid of him when no one's even vocalised the idea that snyder (and others) should sell their teams...
I don’t disagree, just thought JLC accusations were very…unheard of before to me. Honestly wanted to make sure I didn’t miss something

He and elliot been a liability in cvg ever since they got starting roles.. they shouldve been gone
They really have been average to very slightly above average. Pretty good for both being 6th round picks honestly. Neither one was a liability at any level of the defense, just not at all in your top tier of guys

Is Chase, Higgins, Boyd the best trio in the league? Maybe Hill, Waddle, Parker in second place?

I'm not at all advocating for it because I think it's dumb AF but imagine Hollywood, Bateman, Olave and Andrews.

I would be all for it, honestly. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have a logjam at WR with our history. I think the problem I have is that I don’t have any faith we would use 3WR sets with Andrews on the field at the same time consistently for the ROI. That essentially eliminates your RB

Why would that eliminate your RB - that’s just basic 11 personnel with 1 rb and 1 te...

Yeah math was hard for me yesterday, lol. Nvm. It was also an incomplete thought on my part. I’m more worried whether we would use the 3WR because we’ve shown issues using more than one or two. That’s obviously an OC thing that’s also heavily debated. I wouldn’t have an issue with drafting a WR early though. I know that’s not popular but I say just get the best guy. If we do draft a WR like Olave then we better use him with Brown and Bateman and make the offense more explosive. We could do crazy things with that proposed formation:

Brown
Bateman
Olave
Andrews
Jackson
Dobbins

Talk about explosiveness. The real key is the OL. If we shore that up then we will be good. Same thing goes for DL. We will need both to be at our best. Defense wins championships but offenses seem to be getting you there. Offense also helps the defense by not going 3 and out and with better field position to give rest, it’s a huge reason why I’m not opposed to WR or OL early because they could pay huge returns.

To be fair to Roman I don’t think he would’ve ever had those kind of weapons ever.

for what it's worth, 11 personnel was already our most used personnel grouping last year - it's possible that decreases with boyle getting healthier and ricard returning - then again it's also possible it increases because we won't have to go heavy for max protection because hopefully the OL will be more functional

feeling more and more like WR is gonna be pretty close to BPA if not BPA when we pick at 14... cant possibly imagine that's the plan and idk what the ravens would actually do if WR is BPA when we're on the clock and we can't move off the pick... would be a real test of the rigidity of their philosophy lol

We'll be disappointed that we missed out on an elite defense talent for sure. But if we end up with Olave it's not like Penning.... You know what I mean. Penning is taking an underperformer at the more pressing position. Olave is taking an elite offensive talent at the less pressing position

cant turn down elite talent that you dont normally get a chance at just because the position isnt convenient - we're not bad enough as an organisation and we're too talented as a roster to be in this position again any time soon so we have to make the most of it

if they want to trade down and they get good value for that then that's a different point entirely

but they cant stick at 14 and take a lesser talent just because in my opinion

on a related note, will hopefully be doing more study tonight to confirm but there might be someone breaking into that top 10 group ive been harping on about and making it a top 11...

Totally agree. OK well a top 11 would be very exciting because it obviously makes the chances of getting one of those 11 far easier than at 10. Because we presume 2 QBs and at least one receiver/a wild card will be taken ahead.

problem is now that receiver might be one of the top 11 lol

Taking a WR at 14 would be the highest draft opportunity we've had for that position if it worked out that way. I think if we can't move back and we take a WR there it would basically solve the Hollywood "issue." I would like to see an OL or DL there, but if the best are gone and we can't move back, then you take what you think is best and go with it.

Roman wouldn’t know how to use them lol. That’s why I’m wary of a talented logjam at WR. I’d be all for it if we ran an offense similar to Buffalo’s, but Roman would take out one of our WRs on 3rd and medium and put in Pat.

The 2022 NFL Draft is set to take place in Las Vegas, while the dates and location for the 2023 NFL Draft is now also set.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to hire someone based off race or sex. The NFL continues to take step backwards when it comes to the Rooney Rule, and just like forcing teams to interview a minority, doesn't this just discourage said person who knows they are only there to fill a quota not because of their qualifications?

On a Wednesday? Interesting
