The Random Thought Thread

yep
all the draftniks were talking about a big 5 at WR (some people even had him as like a top 3 guy)
also a bunch of twitter "draft fantasy analysts" do way too much of their grading based on stats like breakout age and size

they all forgot that WR's a bit more complicated than being big and fast - dude was always going to be a project because he couldnt and didnt run routes lol - so much of his college production and tape was close to the LoS on manufactured touches to make use of his YAC ability but he was a bad route runner and wasnt asked to run many either

its highly likely he'll be better next year - but idk if he'll ever be a superstar
the AJ Brown comps were stupid
Treylon Burks hasn't been bad. He was injured then his QB got injured on a run first team, so his numbers aren't great but he's looked pretty good to me. For whatever it's worth, PFF gave him a 74.1 grade for the season, which is not bad for a rookie.

Bateman's rookie season was similar - after his injury he didn't get many targets beyond 10 yards, and he only got a few of those per game - so he' wouldn't have looked like much to outsiders, though we thought he looked promising.

74 is considered very good for a rookie WR as anything in the 60s is considered good or average.

The AFC Playoff Field is Set..... the AFC Wild Card Round looks like this:

Dolphins(7) @ Bills(2)
Ravens(6) @ Bengals(3)
Chargers(5) @ Jaguars(4)

Makes me smile knowing Flacco’s abysmal play today ended the Steelers playoff hopes :)

In a wild stat, Patrick Queen led the team in tackles this season with 117. In 2nd, Chuck Clark with 101. In 3rd, Roquan Smith at 86... which only includes his 9 games with the Ravens. He was at 169 this season total between us and the Bears. Good lord.

what's crazy is Foye Oluokun nearly hit 200 last year (192 which is most all time for a single season i think) - and then also has the 2nd most in a season ever... which he got this year (184)

8 of the top 12 all-time single season tackle records seem to be from the last 2 years lol - which is unsurprising because of the extra game...

The value of a LBer that is always around the ball and can actually make a tackle is making a big return.
