The Random Thought Thread

Is that the depth chart? If so, Paxton has fallen a lot further than even being in this league as he’s a third stringer for them lmao
So I had to look it up. I remembered that the XFL basically "assigned" two QBs per team, before they did their official "draft". And Lynch wasn't one of them. The other two guys were "assigned" to Orlando, meaning basically yes, he's a 3rd stringer.

The star next to his name apparently means the league assigned him to that team after the draft. So he wasn't one of the top 16 QBs in the league before the draft.

Apparently had a change of heart and is now in the XFL
By the way, if you comb through those rosters, its a lot of nostalgia and memories. Here's some of the names I recognized:

Arlington:
Former Raven Will Hill
Rahim Moore (Broncos safety, infamous for the Mile High Miracle)
Former Raven Otaro Alaka
Punter Marquette King (former Raider)

Houston:
Former Raven Diego Fagot

Orlando:
Cody Latimer (Broncos)
Former Raven Matt Elam

San Antonio:
Kalen Ballage (Dolphins RB)

St.Louis:
AJ McCarron

Vegas:
Martavis Bryant (former Steeler)
Vic Beasley (Falcons... top 10 pick)

Wow a former DPOY…

Wow a former DPOY…
Was Beasley ever DPOY? He was an All-Pro in 2016, but I don't think he won the award.

Not sure I've seen a fall from grace that big for purely on-field performance. Guy was an All-Pro in 2016, had 8 sacks in 2019, and ended up on two different teams and barely played in 2020. Hasn't been back in the league since.

All-Pro at 24, out of the league basically by 28-29.

Yeah my bad he wasn’t DPOY just the league sack leader. But yeah he fell off so fast, I thought it was a lot more recent than 2016 too

Martavis Bryant. Man…

Who was the last great former Ohio State QB? They don't do well in the NFL. Joe Burrow does not count
I mean I think it just depends on how you view things.
Pretty sure 10 years ago people basically said "never draft a Big 12 QB", because they don't do well in the Pros.
Now both of the starting QBs in the SB were Big 12 guys, as was Brock Purdy and Geno Smith.

Think it has a lot to do with the style of offense Urban Meyer had and what he wanted out of a QB didn't translate in the NFL (which makes perfect sense knowing what we know now). Think you're clearly seeing a difference with how Ryan Day views QBs.

I think that's actually pretty insightful analysis
