The Random Thought Thread

PSA to all the dudes still in their mid to late 20s thinking about settling down. DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT, marry the freak you’ve been having a great time with. Yes, she is a ton of fun and does some crazy shit in the sheets, but she’s a freak for a reason and that shit will pop up in her 30s in some crazy unhealthy way. SMH lol fuck me

Best thing I ever did was leave that type of girl. She wanted to move back to her home state of Cali, where I have absolutely zilch ties to. I would’ve been stranded

The Braves had a 28 Game HR streak, it ended today in a loss to the White Sox. The Atlanta Falcons once held a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl.

28 is just a very unlucky number for Atlanta sports teams.

As much as I love football, I’ve been watching the orioles daily recently and boy is it nice that one injury to any star (unlike to a qb) won’t absolutely ruin your entire season and 4 month period in life

That’s true, but for too many seasons over the past few decades the O’s have been devoid of ANY stars. It’s nice to see this organization finally beginning to build from the bottom up.

Os had a massive rebuild. That previous playoff team absolutely disintegrated over a 3 year span, the Chris Davis contract, machado trade, jonesy and markakis and Cruz leaving, the Matt Wieters injuries, bucks insistence on trusting the pitching rotation in big games, all these factors tanked the Os almost as fast as the 2017 Jags.

And They’re still fucking paying Chris Davis

So I know its like the biggest "joke" for fans that like the Mets still have to pay Bonilla, and Chris Davis will be on the Orioles payroll for the next 15 years basically, but...

It's actually a brilliant move my MLB teams to do these deferred deals. From a cash management standpoint, if you can defer compensation longer, its a win-win for the Company.

He has $42M in deferred $ over 15 years. You can pretty much ask any business owner in the world... if you had to pay out $42M, would you rather pay it out over 7 years (the original length of his contract), or over like 22 years, which includes the deferral period?

Every single one would say deferred.

Plus poor drafting, player development, and poor trade choices

O's "Renaissance" is directly attributable to the reconstruction of the farm system after Asbestos King dismantled it. They're doing it the way it should be done and hopefully they pay these guys and keep the band together. They have more than a handful of top notch young players who will be making big bucks.

Right and I'd actually argue its a good for the player as well. You retire and are still receiving a large amount of your contract.

I mean its bad for a player if they understand basic $ management. It's the equivalent of winning the lottery and taking the annuity rather than the lump-sum. Pretty much no $ model anywhere that suggests its better to take the annuity.

It's only better for the player IF they suck at managing their $. And my argument then is that people who have gtd $ coming in the future are just as likely to go into debt now, knowing they have that future income stream.

Has to be one of the dumbest deals in history. I was so pissed when they did that.

This dude full of himself.

Can’t wait for next year when we get Kyle Shanahan
