We got Darby and clowney and I’m not sure if we’re better or worse for it

Why would we be worse for it?

We got two potentially good players and significant contributors on low prices with very little investment or risk…

Very few downsides

At worst clowney will be a rotational edge setter and situational power rusher

Darby is much more of a question mark but definitely an upgrade on the depth we had at worst

I was talking to my stepson last night and he loves the Clowney pickup but does not like the Darby pickup at all. He is not a fan of Darby’s play on the field and thinks he is not a good CB at all. I don’t know anything about the guy so I have zero opinion.

Darby has been one of the more consistent CBs in the league since he’s entered. Nothing overly flashy or great but nothing overly bad either. Biggest issues in his career have been health related, not play related.

Just keep in mind that Darby is the price and type of Corner who should be a rotational/depth piece who may not play a lot later in the year. We needed a veteran body for the first month while Marlon misses whatever time he's missing.

When everybody is healthy, I'd expect RYS and Marlon to be near-every-down players, with other guys, including Hamilton, rotating in the slot. Basically Darby would be rotating with guys like Stephens, Pepe, JAD, etc.

I agree, but I want to add that the prior month of the season before Darby got injured, in 2022, he was an every down player.
