The Random Thought Thread

Detroit is better than all three of those teams.
And I think its a fair point. However it'll be moot in a month.
I'm not sure. I don't feel strongly, but I don't think Detroit is much better than a 500 team even if they have a better record. They seem super average.

Maybe. Based on what I've seen the last few months, I'm not sure Detroit, Cleveland, etc. aren't better than, say, Kansas City.

Excluding the Ravens, there's like 3-4 really high-end teams the Ravens could have played (Miami, SF, Philly and Dallas). Everybody else right now is in that class of "meh". We'll play two of them by the end of the year.

I don't disagree with either of those 2 thoughts but they were not related to my statement lmao.

Edit: Let me be clear. I'm just saying independent of record, I think these were the best teams we've played.
Oh, OK. Through you were commenting on how easy our schedule has been up to this point. lol

Yeah, pretty much agree other than maybe replacing Houston with Detroit. Given the form they were in when we played them I think the Lions were the better team at that time.

I’m just ready for the playoffs at this point, but we might just get that 1 seed.

Guessing salary played a part. Almost $11M cap hit this year with an uncertain Lamar at the time he was dealt. Because you're right - Gilmore is the exact type of guy we'd typically go after.
Slay's cap hit is $11M and the Ravens apparently tried hard to land him. And they both were dealt/signed around the same time. So, I don't know. Just weird to me.

Slay was supposed to be released at that time, so imagine whatever deal they were working towards would have spread that cap hit out a la most with the void years this year.

I think Dak wins MVP this year. He's been on an absolute tear over the last like eight, nine games and as Ravens fans know- MVPs are won on the back half.

If he keeps this up, it's hard to argue against him.
Honestly Tyrek Hill should win it though he probably won't. He is having a season no receiver has ever had.

That's true and fair, but I imagine they could have tacked on void years to the Gilmore deal, no? Or at least negotiated an extension.

We'll see. He's on pace to break 2,000 in week 18, but if it were a 16 game season, it'd be on par with Cooper Kupp's season where he won the triple crown. I think he'll have more of a case if he breaks it in 16 and can grab over 20 touchdowns, both being tough tasks.

One of the best throws Lamar ever made, considering his footwork to get into position to flick it, while avoiding a low hit.
Quite incredible. No other human could do it.
This is why he got paid that contract. Never in mind did I think he was gonna leave us because we knew we couldn't let a talent of Lamar's caliber walk out the door.

But seriously tho, ain't that some shit?! Lamar has the best set of weapons he has worked with and is able to make plays like that. Who knew......

Boy is Mahomes getting the Lamar treatment from years past with poor receivers. The Chiefs are easily beatable .

It goes to show you that Lamar is damn near as good as Mahomes.

And wildly different takes in the media on that...

Mahomes: He can't win because he doesn't have the talent around him

Lamar: He can't win because he doesn't elevate the players around him

I've never been a fan of asking a QB to "carry" an offense. Nothing about that makes sense.

Even the Tom Brady Patriots. It's not like he was throwing to bums or did not have a decent O-line/RB game to rely on either.

I pissed Shannon Sharpe off a few days ago when he was responding to some criticism about how he covers Lamar. It was on twitter, and all I said was it appears that you have extra passion for this subject which is why people say it about him.

He then proceeded to ask me what he has not been passionate about over his 7 years lol

Idk if anyone listens to the lounge podcast but recently they were discussing defining moments (Seahawks game in 2019) and they couldn’t think of any (I felt the same way)

This game in my opinion was absolutely a defining moment and could be a moment we look back on at the the end of our Super Bowl run
