Was unaware of these on sides kick rule changes.

Lol saves us, there's been like 4 successful onside kicks in the last 2 years. How about this headline: refs incompetence at rigging the game costs the Cowboys

OK. lol

So about the rule changes… The 2018 changes which banned running up at the kickoff lowered the success rate tremendously. Now you have to notify the opposing team of onside kicks, they have to be in the 4th quarter, the kicking team has to be trailing, and you can only attempt 2 in a game. So no more surprise onside kicks. Wondering the reasoning behind these new rules.

To make them impossible I guess, unless you are playing the Ravens with a 2 score lead

Good luck to any members living in the Big Bend area of Florida. Storm surge now predicted to be 12-18 feet. Thats insane. Reminds me of Ian.

But it also goes to show Geno was very replaceable and Simpson has been very Queen-esque
Agreed. Never thought Geno was anything special so not surprised there. Was hoping Simpson could reach Queen levels but he’s done better out of the gate than I expected admittedly.

Vorhees is struggling but not sure he’s significantly worse than Simpson. Moses was a quality player but the body was starting to break down and I don’t consider him a big loss either.

It's annoying we didn't just keep Zeitler one more year.

There should be no limit on how many times a team can on-side kick in the 4th quarter and they shouldn't have to disclose it. That's a stupid rule. What's more telling in the article is the national media watches enough Ravens games to comment that, "...Baltimore held a commanding 28-6 lead early in the fourth quarter, but in a story that's all too familiar at this point, failed to put its opponent away for good. Dallas then scored 19 unanswered points in a six-minute span..." This is something that's now a hallmark of this team. The old days of prevent DEF are alive and well in the team philosophy of the Ravens: we have a big enough lead to hold them at bay and win... until they don't. And they don't enough of the time that it is now maybe even a trend.

Here's a random thought.

I want to know how different sports narratives come to be and why they get so much steam.

One of the biggest is that people think the combine alone vaults players up big boards for teams massively. Players will have movement if they have a Vontaze Burficht tier implosion or force a second look with a Byron Jones level performance, but the combine alone isn't doing anything more than confirming the tape.

Another one that's truly random. Aiden Hutchinson's torrid pace and start to the season has led to a lot of discussion about how he went second overall to the Lions rather than first to the Jags. There are people who legitimately believe Baalke hates Harbaugh enough that he didn't draft the known best player. Like, yes, an NFL GM knowingly crippled their franchise to avoid taking a player to spite a coach they have to have zero interaction with. Very smart assumption there.

There are more, but the Aiden Hutchinson news has brought up the combine and then Hutchinson vs Walker and it's amazing how many people buy into these narratives.
