Legitimate question for those saying we should fire Orr… who would you replace him with?

As far as I can tell, you only have 2 legitimate options on staff right now -

1. Chris Hewitt, who is the pass game coordinator of the 32nd ranked pass defense in the league

2. Dean Pees, who is 75 years old and is clearly only consulting because he is in fact 75 years old

It’s easy to say we need to make a change, but the options are extremely limited in-season.
unfortunately this past offseason we were completely stripped of coaching talent.

There really should be a rule that prevents this kind of bleed from an NFL team. The salary cap prevents it at the player level but nothing is in place for the coaching level. We should’ve been compensated a draft pick with the number of losses we had.

I know a HC can block but nobody with class would do that.

I think it extends beyond that too, where we have a mix of guys that have been here for some time and some brand new guys from all over, including the college ranks. I'd imagine it's hard to impart a vision within the coaches, let alone the players.

In season firing is completely unrealistic. I think at the earliest it would be mid next season.

Oh its bad, but that 2015 defense set the bar for how awful a defense can be.
Our defense is worse than the 2012 New Orleans Saints defense in every passing metric. The 2012 Saints defense is generally regarded as one of the worst defenses of all time. Trust me this defense is absolutely horrendous

I don’t think so. I think if Orr is the problem it would be changed next offseason. I’m not sure he is THE problem, he is just definitely apart of the larger problem at the moment because it’s his ship.

Let’s also be real here: we’re upset because Macdonald set a high bar and Orr could never live up to that; hIs defense isn’t even average. I think if we were 20th or 15th it wouldn’t be that bad but we’re really really bad on defense

Compared to where they were at this juncture, I would say that defense was worse. They definitely got better as the year went on but largely against weak offenses and poor teams, against good teams they played really poorly.

Oh I agree, this defense is really bad. Says a lot when teams don't even bother to run the football on you because they know how bad you are defending against the pass.

Watching the Steelers makes me mad we didn't take TJ Watt over Humphrey. With how badly we've needed a pass rusher, having that guy here would've done amazing things

You know, I feel kinda messed up for saying this given that Marlon is the ONLY guy who's made a play on this defense and has saved us from utter collapse multiple times but...

I agree, Watt is so damn dominant. Really don't understand how or why we passed on him.

I like Marlon and it’s not to say anything bad about Marlon but if you’re asking me to choose between 2 players and one is a pass rusher and the other a CB I likely go with the pass rusher for this team. TJ was as good of a prospect as I had seen that year and I really liked him a lot. I was happy with Humphrey but always wanted TJ. Now, he’s a piece of shit in some ways & I’ll never defend him but damn can he rush the QB.

He was a nice young fella. Became a piece of shit in Pittsburgh.

So, I had a look at stats from Browns game. DH had 6.5 and Lamar 6 yards per carry, on 11 and 8 attempts, respectively. Ricard was not in the game much. Hill only got 2.

Wouldn't rushing more made more sense, considering how bad defense played? Just give them less opportunities to torch our secondary and save Lamar from their pass rush. 11 for Henry?? Am I totally dumb? Am I missing something? What the fuck is going on?

Browns did defend the run pretty well, those averages are inflated by their longest runs, both were about 3.4 without them. We just needed to catch passes and INTs and this was a pretty easy win.

You can say thatabout every Henry's game he ever played, if you fed him enough. This season:

Fact is, when he was on a steady diet he crushed it AND made a passing game easier. CIN and TAM games went how they went and he still had more attempts than in this one.

I do not understand the game in which the score is never out of reach and he gets to carry only 11 times.

Like you, it never ceases to amaze me. In almost every Ravens loss down through the years(even with Flacco), the one reoccurring theme is they abandoned the run game. It was especially costly in the playoffs with Lamar. Harbaugh just never learns and the OC's obviously put on their dunce cap at least 3 or 4 times a year. Without fail. Sunday was a perfect example. There's no excuse for Henry not to get 20 carries a game, regardless of how many Browns were stacking the box.
