The Random Thought Thread

So the rivalries uniforms were released today.

And I noticed, the dolphins and jets are wearing these uniforms against eachother, dolphins are all black, jets are very dark green, not far from black.

This was not planned out at all. Nike are seriously idiots lmao. wE wAnTeD tO cOnNeCt WiTh ThE CiTiEs but miami’s uniform is fucking black and they’re wearing it vs an almost black opponent.
The Arizona jerseys look blood splattered. Every Cardinals player will look like they've been horribly assaulted before even taking the field.

Ngl, college football so mf boring man. Consistent bad play calling, 9 of the 11 players on the field are ass. Shyt just a whole bunch of hype.
I can’t stand mfs who say the nfl sucks and college football is better, it’s obvious what they’re doing, it’s entirely because they kneeled years back and ask for big contracts and they hate it. Anyone who’s capable of being objective can tell that the nfl is by far a more watchable product on the field. Most college games are unwatchable.

nfl games are more competitive
the standard of even the best college teams is generally so much lower than the nfl's worst teams
the nfl has very few meaningless games, and very few games where the underdog has basically no chance of a surprise upset

the number of college games that are over by half-time is outrageous
the number of "important" college games that are not even close is ridiculous
the expanded playoffs told you so much last year too - how many competitive games were there that whole playoffs? 2? maybe 3 of the 11 games

i mostly only watch like the major cfb playoff games and mostly just to watch draft prospects - most of my cfb knowledge the last few years is from watching draft prospects - a ton of games i've seen multiple times from last year and i couldn't tell you what the final score was or who won...

Yeah it's this for me. I'm not interested in watching Ohio State beat up on Georgia State 70-0 on the 0.000001% chance the underdog pulls off an upset. Even the closely ranked matchups often end up in one side being much better than the other.

Even worse now that it's a money league and not based on recruiting. Happy for the guys to get their money but it reflects even less parity than there already was.

Like you, my interest in college football lies in scouting.

2021 CFB final between Georgia and Alabama
2022 CFB semifinal between Georgia and Ohio State

in terms of quality of football and competitiveness those 2 games were amazing - but the fact that those are the only games i can think of from the last 4 seasons is telling in and of itself

also watching that 2019 LSU and 2020 Bama team destroy everyone was interesting in its own way partly because of the level of play

the pre-NIL chasing of the Saban Bama teams clearly raised the level from the other big recruiting teams
but i cant think of a great game post-2022

Exactly. They need to seriously restructure their scheduling to make it more competitive consistently
