Well three obvious caveats:
1. This doesn't mean they're keeping Horton. It means they want the new HC to have the option of retaining Horton if he chooses. Doesn't mean he stays.
2. He's been the ST coordinator for 7 years, and was the assistant ST coach for five years before that. So unless we think our ST has been garbage for a decade or more (which it clearly hasn't), I'm not sure fans are doing good analysis by making judgments about coaching staff based on one year sample sizes. Especially when the larger sample size suggests he's a good coach.
3. It would appear that the NFL at large thoroughly disagrees with your assessment, based on the seemingly high demand for him.
Completely agree with point number 1 in that, why would you just let them make a lateral move now? It serves no benefit to the team. If the new HC wants to fire him then he can just do that when he’s hired.
#2 I dont know enough about to have an opinion one way or the other. This upcoming year will be my first as a Ravens fan, and I am certainly very excited about it.
