The Random Thought Thread

I don’t want to read it and fall more in love with him as a prospect. It’ll only lead to a bigger heart break. But I will bookmark it just in case he’s our pick haha
months ago I picked him as my single favorite prospect and claimed I'd rather have him then Quenton Nelson lol (I love QN he will be all pro, I just thinkwe need playmakers) A.M is written on my chalkboard wall room as my favorite prospect and that's staying there while he dominates the NFL. If I could change from arm chair gm to ozzie for once I'd trade back a few picks and grab him with a smile. The intelligence from him, even to write something like that, is off the charts. I've only loved two guys as much as him, and they were Deandre Hopkins and my all time favorite prospect, Harrison Smith. This guy will be an all-pro by the time I'm starting college.

Ya see what I mean, man don't jinx it lol.

Best case: S barkley drops to 16 the mother fucking steelers don't take anthony miller or an elite player.

realistic case: Ozzie drafts an average ala player at 16 in a position we kind of need but don't really, all of us will like a prospect way more at that pick who will go 2 or 3 spots later and end up being a HOF, a "high motor" lb in the second, in the third either a guy with great or terrible charter, either way both won't do shit. A solid linemen in the forth round, maybe fifth, some type of defense back who will only ever play special teams, as we watch our favorite prospects get picked up by Pitt and Cincy. Throw in some random defensive tackle /end who we won't know the name of until his contract year when he puts up 8 sacks, is considered the next great pash rusher, and signs a massive contract with a shitty team that busts.

Worst case: We trade back 20 picks for only a 4th somehow and the dude falls down the stairs and loses hearing, we ignore all pos of need because "BPA" which at this point means gaping holes at tightend and WR depth, but we will have a linemen who will likely never actually see the field. Harbs ignores all tape and drafts 100% on personality to get some good attitude bitches to be a harbs guy

Do you all realize how much potential cap space we might have in the next 1-2 years? Flacco, Jimmy, Suggs and Weddle could all be off the books. If the team is smart Jackson never sees the field this season.

I noticed that Lamar referred to Haydn as, " my tight end", and that Hurst talked about how excited he is to be catching passes from, "this guy, (Lamar) for however many years to come..."

The biggest shock to me about the Jackson pick is that the coaching staff has a lot more job security than we thought. It's pretty clear that there is a transition plan in play for moving from Flacco to Jackson and that Marty/Roman/Urban are all invested in being patient with Jackson.

Definitely a different picture being painted than the "playoffs or bust" picture that a lot of us envisioned. This isn't Cleveland, so the Haslam "take your future QB and get fired before he gets a chance to develop" mindset likely doesn't apply.

I never envisioned playoff or bust like some of you did. I thought this year would have to be really bad for Harbaugh to be replaced. That was just my opinion, but now that Jackson was drafted it most definitely is a transition plan that will keep the same staff in place.

That staff could probably manage without Harbs, though. Perhaps he and Joe will be new tandem in NE, after BB and that other one retire?

Yeah, this probably gives Harbaugh another two years since they can take this year to develop Jackson and then start him next year if they decide to cut Flacco. I suppose there's a chance that they could still move on from Harbaugh by promoting Roman to HC, however, I don't see how that would be an improvement so I'm thinking that Harbaugh stays for a while longer.
