Joe Flacco

I think there are certain posters who only see negative comments about Joe and try to stir the pot that way and posters who only see positive posts and stir the pot that way.

I think that's what makes Joe Flacco threads the absolute worst on the forums.

The reality about our and any other fan base in the NFL is that it will NEVER have every fan on the same page, seeing things the same way or thinking the same way about the players or the team itself. No way! I realize that this and other Ravens forums or outlets are a mere microcosm of the ENTIRE Ravens fan base. So, some in here will defend Flacco until he is no longer a Raven and others will slice and dice his ass up until he is no longer a Raven. I try to be a blend of both!

I can praise Flacco when it is due without any hesitation and then on the other hand, I can tear his ass up when I feel he has played like ass (which to me is most of the time). My critique of his performance over the years, as harsh as they may be at times is out of truly wanting him to succeed and desiring for him to play and look like a top tier QB in the eyes of the world...not just in the eyes of a few in this small market fan base. Unfortunately, he hasn't done that as of yet. He's look awful more than he has awesome and that is why many give him the moniker of "FLUCCO"
:smoke:

I told you, that's the quote that I saw from Jeff Zriebac. It isn't fake news because that's an actual quote from Joe Flacco himself, but yeah, I mean, I guess we can ignore that he actually said it because we don't like it.

I do think that Flacco has some of the best weapons of his career (even though I've never said that specifically; I've said he's got real talent). I think you could definitely make the argument that this is the most well rounded group he's had. Maybe behind 2012, but this is up there for his career.
lol.......Thanks for proving the point. Carry on.

You never offer anything as a counter point or anything to even discuss. I added this late, but

I'm not unhappy with you calling out... what you don't like to hear without ever actually offering a counter argument that's coherent. I'm laughing at the fact that you ignore any positive post about Flacco from posters on here and go on these hunts for people who praise the play of Flacco. I shared a direct quote I made about Flacco where I praised him and expressed my desire to see January Joe again, but we can't see that because it's not negative and that defeats this idea that everyone is out to get Joe.

I mean, you were beyond hyped up for Jeremy Maclin when he signed with Baltimore, but now that he's not performing well, he's just some guy with no talent and Joe is getting nothing to work with.

I'm with you in that I want Joe to do well and I will praise when he plays well, but will call out what I think is poor play.

What I was trying to say is that I could say, "Joe has the potential to be one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game with all the natural talent that he has, but he's just not playing well this year," and someone would come along and go, "Will you stop shitting on Joe? All you do is criticize and act like he's the worst thing to ever happen to the NFL. He's not as bad as you make him out to be."

Some people just want to stir the pot.

Thanks for remembering that I was hyped for Maclin. You know why I was hyped? Because I knew we had nothing in the way of dependable talent and I hoped Jeremy could provide that dependability. But as my buddy in KC warned about he is made of glass at this point in his career. Doesn’t have anything to do with him now being “some guy with no talent”(more fake news, who said that?), he’s on the sideline not a weapon, not someone helping the team.

Flacco “has some of the best weapons of his career”. Wowzer. That’s the kind of crap that makes people just say”huh? WTF are you watching?”

Oh no, that's not why you were hyped at all. You were hyped because you thought Maclin was a legitimate weapon with the ability to command constant attention at all times.

What years did he have a better group of receivers?

Minkah is one of my 3 musts

S.Barkley
Q.nelson
M.Fitzpatrick
Good list but
- can Nelson play tackle? I don't want top 10 pick spent on him if he's going to be a guard
- RB class is loaded, I don't see the value in spending top 10 pick on Barkley - lots and lots of really good backs will be available later

I hear you! But you can't worry about what other cats say or attempt to "stir up". You have to speak your truth on how you see things about "OUR" team and keep rolling. Respect everyone's views (as differing as they may be at times) learn from them as well but always stay true to yourself and how you see things.

A guy of Maclin's quality demands constant attention which will open up the field for others. This makes every other receiver and RB on the roster better. Hopefully it pans out as planned and Mac stays injury free. Gotta be super excited for this unexpected signing!
This is what you had to say about Maclin. You're telling me you were only excited because he was the only dependable talent? Yeah, okay.

I just really hate that people who criticize Joe are trolls and then we have people like Sami who only spew negativity all the damn time... and like, really weird claims that have no factual backing.

I've never really viewed you as a anti Flacco troll. Sometimes you're too harsh from my perspective but it's not just Flacco bashing. I love hearing your perspective even when I disagree.

But we agree that Flacco is immensely talented, too talented to be playing this poorly even with the terrible circumstances. It's baffling to me, and I will call out when he messes up and I know even at his best he'll never be perfect , I just think if we (well really the FO) actually break down Flaccos strengths and weaknesses and our personnel , we could do a lot better than we are doing. And while it's no excuse for his poor play, I think Flacco is going through something mentally that at least is in large attributable to all the change and adversity that he and the offense have gone through the last 5 years - I think what this team has gone through since winning the Super Bowl in 2012 is unprecedented between all the turnover from retirements, injury and coaching changes, and the most baffling part to me is this : why pay Joe all that money and not build a team around HIM , to suit HIM? I always got back to trading Boldin, it isn't just the biggest mistake but it's the precedent. We don't build our team around Joe, which makes no sense. If your highest paid player is on offense, invest your money to get the most return for that player. Joe is now a shell of his former self - he doesn't hold out waiting to make those big plays down the field, he checks down so often now. He doesn't step into throws and it's not like that's a skill you forget, it has to do with conviction - Joe used to be convicted when he threw the ball, even on the ones he shouldn't have thrown. I want the Joe who scrambled around and threw to Torrey in the back of the end zone after he dropped one three plays earlier against the Steelers in 2011. I want the Joe who almost overcame a 21 point deficit in the 4th quarter against the Vikings and Favre in 2009. I want the Joe who threw into tight coverage all game against the Pats in 2012 in the AFC championship. Joe used to have balls, that's what I loved about him. Against the Raiders, I said he looked like his old self because he did , he took shots came he stepped into his throws. Clearly that player still exists, we need to figure out how to get him back on a more consistent basis.

Well, most in here that know me, know that I'm not a Flacco-fanboy whatsoever! They know that I will gash the hell out of that dude after a piss poor performance. However, I have NEVER been labelled or called a troll. So, I don't know where you are getting that one from?

I think the posters that fall into the "troll" category are cats that show up at certain times to post, drop their trollishness in the thread and then disappear and wait for another opportune time to pounce. That's definitely not me! I'm in here constantly and it's not you! Again, say what you have to say and keep it rolling! As far as Sami? Well...that's Sami. :smoke:

At this point any year would do because most of this year’s squad isn’t on the field. But like I said Sunday AM maybe Griff turns out to be the find of the decade! lol

I think Flacco honestly does have best in the league potential. You don't have the type of arm talent that can throw the length of the field without even setting your feet and not have all the potential in the world.

I think as far as giving him the massive contract, you have to give and take a bit. You aren't going to be able to get a Julio Jones or AJ Green in free agency anymore; you'll have to settle for the B tier Mike Wallace, Benjamin Watson, Jeremy Maclin types.

I do agree with you that Joe is just looking gun shy. I don't know what triggered in his mind because he's aggressive in 2014 and all of a sudden Trestman comes in and things start going downhill, even before the ACL injury. Joe doesn't strike me as the type to really get caught up in the injury, so I don't think it's that, but there is something.

I don't hold the Vikings game against Joe because he was missing like five or six pass catchers and his top three, but it was so refreshing to see him take shots down the field even if it was just Chris Moore. And you know what? It opened up the offense. They finally got in a groove and started finding some YAC and started hitting some intermediate throws. I want to see more of that from Joe.

But one thing that will make me entirely lose faith in the offense is something that Joe has no control over, but rather Marty. The Dolphins, according to ESPN, have the second worst passer rating allowed against play action. If we go another game without play action, I will lose it.

My point was and still is that people will get really excited for a signing like Maclin and give him the highest praise, but when things don't quite work out the way they expected, they blast the FO for neglecting Joe. Like, fans were just excited three months ago about this signing and now Joe is being neglected?

This is what you had to say about Maclin. You're telling me you were only excited because he was the only dependable talent? Yeah, okay.

It’s really annoying when you go back and edit posts to try to argue. Why not just post again? No matter.

Right, and I said that why? Can you read my mind? Because we didn’t have that on the squad at the time. A dependable receiver that would command attention and open up the field. Has that happened? To be frank, I don’t even know why this discussion is happening. There’s no way to rationalize that the present group is the best Joe has had.
