Joe Flacco

The only throw I have seen him make which I liked was when he threw it 10 yards to a TE with no defenders in the path of the throw. Not a tricky throw, nice to hit it on the run but I would expect any backup QB to hit that throw 9 times out of 10.

I have not actually gotten to see a lot of throws from him. I remember an awful one where he missed that exact throw to Crabtree I believe it was a couple weeks ago and then most of his plays have been running plays so I only have the preseason where there is any real body of work to base an opinion off of. If I missed a series in Carolina I should look at give me a rough time stamp and I will check it out later this week (I seriously need this year to end).

Literally just YouTube lamar Jackson panthers

And for shits sake try to pay attention to the finer points and look how much cleaner and comfortable his play looks compared to preseason
Here's the video. I think this has pretty much the whole last drive.

Sp Flacco practiced yesterday. He will play

no excuses then

until week 15 we play some of the worst defences in football with no exceptions - our offence should absolutely do some work and if it doesnt then we will have one of the worst offences in football because even bad offences are putting points up on these defences

in order:
Bengals (32nd ranked defence in yards and just fired their DC)
Raiders (trainwreck with minimal effort at times)
Falcons (terrible defence that's been missing key pieces since week 1)
Chiefs (improving but still one of the worst defences in football)
Bucs (literally fired their DC because their defence was that bad)

if the organisation really does think we're still in the playoff hunt then the offence has to put large point totals up against all of those teams

If our defense can finally rise to the occasion, no reason why we can't win five straight.

What's kinda sad is if you look at what PIT and NO have done since we played them, maybe they already did rise to the occasion.

I've come to realize in this day and age, it is virtually impossible for a defense to shut down a top-flight offense. We can crush bad offensive opponents with our D, but when we play a team with a quality offense, our offense has to keep up ... and for the most part, it simply can't.

longest streak i can remember since the superbowl is 3 - i dont think we've won 4 in a row since

Yeah, I was thinking it was 3 as well. Makes it really hard to stay in the playoff hunt when we can't put together any notable win streaks to give us some cushion in the latter half of the season.

Thing is, you have to maintain your mechanics over the entire period of a game and season. I love the improvements Lamar made and it shows how hard he works but I need to see him maintain it for the entirety of a season and game before I can say that he's good in that aspect. FWIW it shows how good of a job James Urban has done with him though.
Tbh lamar jackson looks like he throws flicked lol. Kinda like how girls throw. Straight wrist and arm action.. he looks like he holds the ball weird too like his finger be top of the ball. Maybe it will work out for him though. Only thing i didnt like about him was his accuracy and the fact that he would hold to the ball too long even when the wr was wide open. Like you said he needs to maintain it for an entire season cause a team makes you start feeling uncomfortable, people are likely to revert back to those bad habits

If it works for him I have no problem with how his motions are. I’m not gonna nitpick if he can get some air in the ball and throw a good ball. Like I said, you have to maintain your mechanics for the entirety of a game and season, if he can do that then he could be really successful. And yeah, people can revert to old habits really easily.

I can’t wait to see him though. It’s gonna be exciting.

I think our defense could've done a little bit more if we had some semblance of a pass-rush. Father Time is catching up to Sizzle, o Judon where art thou, and T-Will has been hurt. At least ZDS isn't stumbling to the ground before getting to the QB.

Sadly, we dont have an elite pass rusher like many teams. Sizzle was at one time.

To add to your point, just look at Rivers: he has one of the worst-looking throwing motions I've ever seen and is one of the best QBs in the league. Jackson just needs to get consistent with his mechanics and he has a ton of potential regardless of how it looks.

I’d take 3 - 2 victories over every single one of them! LMAO!

If Joe isn't 100% then that will hurt us more than it would help. One of the big reasons Joe had success early on in the year was because he was finally healthy. Now he's dealing with another injury that very well may limit him, and we are better off with Lamar starting the rest of the year.

I am known on these boards to be a Joe Flacco supporter. I don't think the Ravens did him favors giving him weapons almost his entire career here in Baltimore. But with him possibly not being 100% the rest of the season I think with how the Ravens offense has been flat I think the best thing for this team moving forward would be to play LJ over him. It may give the offense that spark it needs to get to the next level like how Cam Cameron was holding the offense back back in 2012. Now I know some people are saying Bob would likely start if Flacco cannot play because he is the veteran, but I really do hope the Ravens start the rookie. Honestly even if LJ falls flat on his face we all know he is a rookie learning techniques, but if he sparkles he may be the spark needed for the Ravens to win 5 of their last 7 and sneak into the playoffs.

I think before this season I honestly think Flacco had no supporting cast. But this is the year I do think Flacco has had the weapons. He has missed throws, Marty sucks at calling plays, whatever it is... This team shouldn't be 4-5. And not all of it can be put on Flacco as the defense has looked like swiss cheese even when they are the #1 ranked defense in the league. Smoke, Crab, and Snead are the best receiving cast Flacco has ever had and he has 2 talented young tight ends, along with Collins. The only other supporting cast you can say was better was Boldin, Torrey, and Rice and that is just because Rice was such a threat in multiple ways and Collins has struggled with the offensive line failing to create holes.

yeah and i really like the unorthodox whippy arm that lamar has - its a quick looking release and creates a deceptive amount of power and seems to help him with his touch passes

exactly - we know an unhealthy flacco is not actually a good option for this team - the coaching staff wont view it that way because they trust joe but the best thing might be to play Lamar, let him see if he can spark the offence, let joe get healthy and then joe can rip up the bad defences we've got left to face down the stretch - that feels like the best case to me - and you know cinci is gonna bring all sorts of blitzes at joe to test his body and joe's never been good vs the blitz even when healthy - given how bad the bengals defence has been too, if they're blitzing they're gonna leave so many holes to exploit especially if we have Lamar's (or RGIII)'s mobility

but heyho - im not the coaching staff and obviously we dont know how bad joe's injury is

Our woes began with the trading of Boldin and cutting Ray Rice. These two were instrumental in keeping Flacco on the field. Bolding caught any pass in his radius thereby moving the sticks and Rice was the miracle man on short and dump off passes. With those two elements gone Flacco has regressed to the point that he is very predictable to defenses. In any event I understand the strategy behind starting Lamar but really unsure if it is the right move. I think he is on a protocol of learning and improving his fundamentals much like Mahomes was in KC. I don't want that disrupted especially since we have RGIII, but if the coaches think LJ gives us the best chance to win in Joe's absence so be it.
