Joe Flacco

What I can’t jnderstand is how joe started off so hot this year and now we’re having these conversation, even before the hip injury

Same conversations because Flacco has been on the decline for some time now.

We have no chance unless we have a very stout running game against them
agree. We will need to keep their offense off the field. That game is most likely a loss but it will be interesting to see where Lamar is at that point, growth wise, if he is still starting.

Might be time to retire my #5 jersey. It’s been a great run (besides the last 5 years). Thanks for the super bowl joe. *sheds single tear*

I’m done with joe, it’s lamars time and I think that much is obvious so far, he’s gotta follow it up and he’s gotta get more passing opportunities and keep being efficient with them, but as of now it looks like joes time has passed.

I will always love Joe Flacco in a totally hetero way. Our first franchise qb, he brought us from obscurity to a perennial contender and a team that was known for coming through in the clutch, it culminated in a super bowl with a legendary run from him. I’ve always loved his attitude and his demeanor, and his fire that we all knew he had but he didn’t show the rest of the world, he’s low key funny as hell, and the toughest qb in the league. I will never talk about burning his jersey or good riddance or none of that shit.

Thanks for everything joe, you’ll always be elite to some of us!

Agreed! I've been done with Flacco for years now! I've been more than ready to see a new QB era begin in Baltimore.

Oh yeah I’m not burning his jersey or anything lol. Time to hang it on the wall or something

yes you have. now maybe we can b....out

Ummm, table that for now....

But, Lamar brought an energy to the offense and the sidelines (w/receivers) that we haven't seen in years out of Flacco. I would have loved to see him pass to the receivers more but he'll get there. I loved watching his quickness, speed and agility in avoiding the rushers. Man, seeing him running around and extending plays had me pumped up and had me jumping up and out of my seat and shouting with excitement a few times lol. To watch Ravens football was finally exciting again!

Thanks for reminding me on a point I wanted to make. Lamar has a contagious energy. I love his energy. He’s not Ray Lewis here but he has intensity and passion and you can see he thinks on the field and uses his mind. You can see he doesn’t let things get to his head. I love how he overcomes adversity so far

Lamar is a ball player. He reads the field and knows exactly what he's doing.

I loved the number of times they would zoom in on his face while he’s setting up the huddle, and you would see him giving the sideline dirty looks like he’s thinking “wtf coach?” Lol I saw it at least twice.

The way he was able to maneuver that pocket with heavy pressure in his first start ever, a divisional game to keep our season alive against a team who crushed our dreams every year, was impressive. He was so poised and collected and he did shit that mentally you don’t see joe doing even as a veteran. The quick compact motions to get the ball out in a hurry on PA plays that need to be delivered quickly after the fake, being on the same page as guys on improv(John browns fg range play was totally improv, you could see the underneath coverage flowing with lamar and brown just stopped behind him and lamar simultaneously put it past the defenders back) and god damn his poise to go through progressions under pressure is so refreshing to see.

Honestly I think he is more mentally gifted and suited for qb than joe, because he doesn’t do some of the mental things you see from lamar.

and it made the team better - the energy was electric and then the defence got the bengals to 3rd down and they showed ray on the big screen and that was the noisiest ive heard m&t on the broadcast for a long time

Lamar is the playmaker that this offense has been really missing. It's not always going to look pretty and he's going to make some mistakes, but Flacco was making plenty of those to begin with. At least with Lamar, there's always the potential for him to make something out of nothing. That John Brown play right before half-time was the perfect example: the Bengals got good push and would have sacked Flacco for sure, but Lamar was able to avoid the pressure, roll out, and then find Brown for a huge play to set up the FG before the half.

Yeah! Ray kept saying; "Let's go defense!" Great seeing him in the booth.

Yep he is a football player and I like it. He just needs more chances to throw the ball so I can see what he can really do there. We won’t be able to sustain this offense without him proving he can kill you deep.

I agree, the stretch simply doesn’t work anymore, front sevens have gotten so athletic that you can’t turn the corner on a stretch and guys are just so caught up to how to defend the stretch now that the backside is always contained. The shanahan tree has begun to run its course at least as far as the stretch goes.

I’m all on board with romans scheme, we just need a better C who doesn’t get bulled in the backfield every time we wanna pull a blocker
I just love when OL punch guys in the face and take their lunch money. I agree we need a C better suited for the team. Skura would probably be good with Kubiak and same with Stanley but I’m pretty sure it would be tough for Brown unless he’s more athletic than assumed. I just like the smash mouth OL best personally. Give me Gaillard.

The biggest knock is the deep throws because I am comfortable with him short and intermediate. It’s those deep balls I want to see. I still want to see more from him before I say he’s better than Joe, but the stuff I’ve seen from him in the small sample size I’ve rarely seen from #5. Lamar can actually hit guys in stride. Joe is also having issues with his deep ball so it’s not like Lamar is THAT far behind lol
