Joe Flacco

i mean he wouldnt wear a shirt that says flacco sucks! no one on the team would! in reality suggs knows that flacco isnt elite

if he didnt back joe then he wouldnt have worn anything related to joe at all - its not like he only has "i hate flacco" shirts that he wears at home and "Elite" shirts that he wears in public... he could have just worn a, you know, ravens shirt like literally everyone else in the building
We all know that the "is Flacco elite" question is basically a running joke. Put it like this, they only wear those shirts to support their QB which is fine by me. You want to talk about a QB that's not respected by his teammates? Look no further than Brock Osweiler.

i dnt believe flacco is elite at all, yet i still had one of those shirts made! lol it doesnt mean anything! I think kobe bryant shoes are ugly as ever yet i still have like two pairs cause that my fav player ever. All im saying is that jus cause he has on that shirt doesnt mean he really think flacco is elite!

of course but the fact he's wearing it is him sticking up for his qb... i dont get how that's hard to understand...

if kobe was your teammate, and you purposely put on a kobe tshirt to the press conference when people were publicly questioning kobe's ability..... youre right, still wouldnt say anything.

Youre at least right in that it doesnt mean he thinks hes elite. Because elite is a subjective measure and everyones is different. So it certainly is possible that Joe doesnt make Suggs' Elite criteria.

But that wasnt the original argument. This was about whether other players think hes a leader and is respected.

I agree with the last two sentences.
I agree that the leadership thing is largely a straw man because it does boil down to results. If he plays well, he is leading. If he doesn't, no one will follow.

I disagree about the 9 to 5 bit being dismissed off handedly.
Im dismissing it because whether theres any validity to it or not (of which i cant find any legitimate evidence) even if he was only putting in a 9-5 but was taking us to the playoffs and winning games.... i dont care.

Do the job or dont.

And hes done the job up to my standard before... so if hes always been a 9-5 guy, then he can do that and still play the way i want him to.

That presumes quite a lot (the parts of your post i don't agree with).
1) You assume he takes film home and does the work at home. For this there is nothing to go on
2) assuming this IS the case....your rationale for him doing this at home is that he has a family....this shouldn't matter. All of these guys have families and if he is afforded that latitude while others are not...again we don't know whether he's about football at home or not, it really doesn't fit the leader narrative anymore than the pouting side receiver version of Flacco does.
3) you said that he played, " good enough.... " never mind that the last five weeks were the most consistent regular season stretch he's had since...???( This is sad to say after ten years)...I expect more from him than just being, " good enough" . This is an essential problem as I see it....He's allowed to simply be good enough, or simply, " gotten" to the playoffs at which point Flacco will turn it on. I'd prefer him to be consistent.

I'd prefer he spend himself for the organization...wouldn't you...If given your preference?
4) if he's done the job up to your standard over these last three years....I can't entertain that. You're essentially saying this all you expect of him off or on the field....I'm not sure about that.
He isn't , " taking us to the playoffs...winning us games"

1.) You assume he doesn't take film home and do work at home. For this there is nothing to go on.
2.) We know he at least works out at home because that's how he got his goddamn back injury this offseason which kept him out of training camp so he obviously doesnt sit on his couch the whole time. We also know he comes in to the optional parts of the offseason despite not being required to and we know he's normally one of the first guys in the building. And it's not like he goes home and solely spends his time with his family because we know he at least hangs out with tucker, pitta, lewis, juice among others because they always have videos on the site about them all hanging out... they may not be watching film on the camera but its not like he loses touch when he's at home. There is no evidence that your assumption is any more right than Bold's.
3.) you're cherry picking here - yes it's his best 5 week stretch in a couple of years but not ever - he had an unbelievably good season in 2014 which people conveniently forget about a lot... and good enough is inherently good enough so you cant be disappointed with good enough because its by the very nature of its phraseology good enough... gotten to the playoffs isnt 'good enough' but flacco has been good enough in stretches now that he's further removed from his injuries... because of how bad our offence started the year it overshadows the fact that our offence despite the lack of weapons and dearth of talent was top 5 in points scored to end the year... i'd say that's probably good enough if we got that for a season don't you think?
4.) I literally have no idea what you are trying to articulate here...

yeah I know Joe personally he’s my brother he spends the offseason and the season at home playing dad and husband while he baths in all the money he’s made he spends his spare time watching golf and doesn’t care about the team or winning he just wants his check and to watch the masters it’s surprising he’s made it this far without any love for the game or care for it he puts no effort in and just goes out there on sundays and tosses the ball in the air hoping things go right

1) Bold and I are in the same boat here, tis true. I'm simply following his lead. We do know that other players gather to watch film weekly. For example: We read this year that weddle and the rest of the DB's had off campus sessions. Curious that in ten years iv'e never heard a peep about Flacco doing the same...outside of the bachelor. First guy in, last guy out, he is not...don't kid yourself.
He strike you as a film junkie? Me neither.
2) Next thing you know, you'll be lauding the fact that he goes running (along with lifting) in the off season
3) I'm a mile from cherry picking. If you could find another example of him playing as he did for five straight games....in ten years, it would be the only other one. And thanks for the lesson in semantics...keep straining.
4) Pretty obvious. I needn't explain.
I assure you, Bold doesn't need you jumping in. I mean, isn't that what that lazy and silly disagree button is for?

Lol those aren’t film sessions if you follow any ravens db on instagram they got together ate food and watched Thursday night football you may want to get your facts straight lol

dude i know you want this so bad but all you're doing is projecting...

Here's how I sum Joe Flacco up. He isn't an elite QB and I don't think there is much debate about that anymore or at least there shouldn't be. Again these are based on my own opinion and not how you may see them and you can form your own opinions and list.

To me there are truly only 3 elite QBs playing today. Brady, Brees and Rodgers. The next level has several more like Big Ben, Matt Ryan, Carr, Wilson, Prescott, Manning (yes Eli is in the 2nd tier), Cousins and Newton. I have deliberately excluded the 2nd year QBs Wentz and Goff and if I were to include them, they would also reside in this category. Deshaun Watson perhaps belongs in this category as well but not enough data to categorize him right now. After these QBs come the third tier of QBs that include Flacco, Dalton, Tyrod, Case Keenum, Nick Foles ( he actually threw 7 TDs and a perfect passer rating in a game and has also led the Eagles to a SB start this year and perhaps could qualify to be bumped into the bottom of tier 2), Bortles, etc.

I may be missing a few QBs but I think I may have covered most of them. To me the closest QB comparison to Flacco is arguably Nick Foles. They both have similarities in that they can go on a run that makes them look great. Foles has made a pro bowl as well unlike Flacco. He has also thrown 19 td passes to 0 interceptions in 2013 eclipsing Flacco's 2012 11TDs - 0 ints except Flacco run was where it mattered the playoffs culminating in a SB. So let's not scoff at this comparison because I think it is very appropriate.

This post will invite a lot of homer criticism but this is how I feel right now and feel very comfortable with it.

ps: I forgot about Luck. I think he hovers between tier 2 and 3 and right now he would top the list of tier 3 QBs based on his injury history and production lately.

I don’t think Prescott is in “tier 2”. He’s a bit overrated and reliant on Zeke. Carr has potential but needs work before he can be tier 2. At this point Eli just simply isn’t tier two. Luck can not even be in any tier because the dude doesn’t play.

A healthy Luck is tier one. Dude somehow manages to play well and his team isn’t totally terrible when he’s on the fielddespite not having a team around him outside of Hilton. He’s that good. If you put Luck on this squad we’d be a super bowl team

I agree with you here actually I don’t think he’s elite but I think he gets wayyyy to much criticism for what he has done in this league not many people have the playoff record he has or a super bowl mvp the one thing that sticks out to me out of all the QBs you just listed Joe has the worst set of playmakers around him I may be forgetting a team but I literally can’t think of a team with worse skill position players than us which I think should be accounted for i just want one season to see what he can do with the players around him but I do think the term elite is thrown around wayyyyy to much I think those three are the only truly elite qbs it makes me mad when people toss Big Ben in maybe it’s my steelers bias but man that dude has the best RB and WR in the league on his offense... and on one last side note I think Ryan had one good season he should be in tier three look at that dudes weapons he has under performed his entire career except for one year just my opinion

Like isn’t it crazy that Joe stepped onto the field with Quincy A and mike Wallace and Ben Watson as his weapons for the last drive of the bengals game that’s just crazy Q just came off the practice squad and he ends up being joes #2 target with the season on the line
