2017 College Football Thread

I don’t think the college playoffs will be expanded, there’s not enough time in the season and I doubt they extend it further. It took a big lobbying effort to get what they have now and after all, college is first supposed to be about getting an education.

But this is the NCAA where $$$$$ talks.

At least one of my teams won an important game. Shout out to my UCF Knights for completing a perfect season. I guess that somewhat makes up for that debacle last night.

I think Baker Mayfield has solidified himself as a first round pick along with Nick Chubb. Georgia Kicker Rodrigo Blankenship kicked a Rose Bowl record long 55 yard FG. Georgia has now got themselves back into it after being down 31-17 at the half and cut Oklahoma's lead to 31-24. Good game here.

and they then forced a 3 and out with a sack of mayfield - a lot of pockets collapsing around mayfield - ive criticised him in this game for taking a little bit too much time in the pocket but that sack on 3rd and 3 he never really had a chance to throw that ball away - ive been really impressed with him

I like Mayfield, but don’t like the offense he plays in. Meaning it’s so much harder to evaluate qbs that don’t play in a pro style offense. Also his height isn’t ideal, being that he’s 6 to 6’1

The Bulldogs just were Ravenized. They fumbled a ball that the Sooners returns for a TD. The difference in the score now

its not a pro style offence but he's also showing a lot of traits tonight that will translate incredibly well in the nfl - he has quiet feet in the pocket and stands there well (sometimes too long), he reads the field nicely (although its easier in this offence) but he also has shown the ability to look off the safeties and linebackers (which is not something you see in college qbs much at all) and in terms of his athleticism his attitude with his scrambling is perfect - he's always scrambling to throw not to run (a la lamar jackson) - there's a lot for him to work on like his consistency of pocket presence, his tendency to overthrow under pressure and his consistency of technique in his arm motion and the height isnt ideal but its not a deal breaker (he's at worst 5'11 which would be still tenable (if not ideal) i think he'll end up just under 6'1 which tbh is fine by me

that being said earlier in the year i was of the impression that he would be a 2nd rounder but the more i see of him the more he shows traits that i think translate well to the nfl and he looks like a 1st round pick to me - he is absolutely in the top 4 qbs in the draft for me

Roquan Smith is all over the place, making big plays. I could see him being our pick at 16 if he is there to put him next to Mosley.

blocked field goal and the bulldogs now just need any score to win with the ball starting at the opposing 25 yard lines the bulldogs would have to seriously fuck up here to lose

Well that's one team who will be playing in a Championship Game on their home turf as the Bulldogs head home to Atlanta to face the winner of Alabama/Clemson.

He’s absolutely a first round pick. I’d he was available in the 2nd I’d be pissed I’d we didn’t take him I’d available. Hell I’d consider him at 16,but we have so many other needs ahead of qb.

i mean... depending on who's there if mayfield is there at 16 we could make a ransom with a trade back (maybe the jags or bills come up and get him from us there lol) - but i might also consider just picking him - he could well be a top 16 player on my board come draft time

When you put together your big board is it for 7 rounds
