Fire Marty

The comparison I'd make is like the movie Titanic, where (spoiler alert) the boat hits the iceberg and you hear that loud scrape as the hull cracks open and the engineer says things will be fine as long as five of the nine compartments stay intact. I don't think I'd encounter much disagreement if I said that at least five of our offensive compartments have been filled with water - and Marty's one of them. Whether or not he's the most important compartment is difficult to say, but if we're keeping one compartment around we'd best make sure we're improving four others.

By that analogy we still sink with an undamaged compartment. We have an (surprisingly) efficient ground game and a balanced run/pass ratio, but he cant make Flacco or our recievers play better and neither would another scrapheap OC.

Have to say, if the Browns do fire Hue Jackson I hope we make a serious run at him for Marty's replacement. He's already familiar with Joe and vice versa. If we don't and we pass on him much like we have with better OCs on the market in recent years.

Id fire marty and pees after miami. Long week then for our new dc and oc to integrate
i agree but if harbs fires both that really makes him look bad. he has already fired 2 oc's. not sure who on defense can step into pees place. i believe one of the assistants has nfl dc experience but that means nothing

Even if you fire him this offense will still be poor. I just wonder how many OC we just have to cycle through at this point.

I agree. Long term move it's good but short term you are going to get no returns whatsoever.
Yeah, I still think he's going to be fired if this continues but how many coaches does Harbaugh have to fire to find the right one? Imagine if Greg Roman takes over as OC and things don't work out, that's RB genius that we're going to have to let go.

Exactly. Marty will be fired at the end of the year when Harbaugh goes. And yes, I think Harbaugh's gone. Only guy I'd keep is Roman tbh and put him in charge of RBs and TEs.

Let's wait to see what happens when Harbaugh is fired.

For years I've believed that Harbaugh's first thought when hiring co-ordinators is not 'Who is the best person for the job?' but rather 'Has this guy messed up as a head coach?' Meaning that however bad we look, it difficult for fans to call for Harbaugh's head because we never have anyone in house that we'd trust to take over. That's why we never have young, up and coming co-ordinators. (It almost backfired with Kubiak but the much improved office actually fortified Harbaugh's position.)

Did you feel that way when Cam was fired?
No... Because Flacco was a good QB at the time and we had talent. Marty's bad, but the biggest problem with the offense is total lack of execution/talent. With Cam Cameron, we had Boldin, a #1 WR, Torrey, a damn good #2, Jacoby who was a solid #3, a solid oline, and a damn Good TE in Pitta. Oh and an elite running back.

Offense actually needs some talent. Maclin is fine. But we need more.
