The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, and the Ravens Offense: Week 6 Edition

Some positives ;

Rainey seemed to have a good feel returning kicks.
Judon becoming a better linebacker each week.
Collins at RB
Tucker/Koch
Ronnie Stanley.....can't think of a whole bunch more right now.
Oh, the home crowd for putting up with that performance and still making noise and remaining engaged.

Negatives

Lost the trenches....we do NOT have a great or even good run defense. Routinely playing with eight and nine in box and still unable to stop the run.

All three interior offensive line positions were man handled at times.
Six plays inside the ten yielding two field goals.....

Just horrendous use of the timeouts throughout. Why are we in such a hurry to call a timeout with a minute left in half one....after a first down with the offense moving...just poor clock management by Harbaugh.

So many sweeps outside mitigating Collins on the ground.

Refereeing was strange...

I sense we need wholesale change. The head coach and his staff for sure.
We must not put all our eggs in the Flacco basket. Painful as it might be to watch, it's better that this loses that we might pick as high as possible.

An embarrassing performance.
We held Howard to 3.5 yards per carry until his big run.

fuck the day perriman ran a 4.20 or whatever it was on this pro day

fuck you perriman. I knew you were crap regardless and yet our overrated FO and scouting dept just got wet over that.

I know for a fact if he had run a 4.4 we wouldnt have drafted him.

Ronnie Stanley is the only really good player we' e drafted in years

CJ mosely is looking awful this year. Doing nothing..looks like an above average linebacker.

I wanted Zach Cunningham in the draft to pair next to him as i had 0 faith in KAMMMMAALLLAAAIIIII

yeah the ravens should just trade their 2nd round pick along with their 1st to get a top 3 pick this year as their 2nd round picks aside from KO in 2012 have beena waste of time for well over a decade

I keep seeing this narrative pushed that the Ravens just ignore the offense and don't do anything for Joe, but the Ravens spend $19M more in cap space on the offense than the defense.
Oh c'mon. You're wayyyyyyyyyyyy smarter than that. They overspend on aging veterans for one thing and most of that is tied up in the QB and Yanda. Woopie doo doo. Name one playmaker on offense? Tucker doesn't count because all he does is come out and kick the ball and is technically special teams.

so i havent been on this bandwagon before but im now happy to blow up the entire skill position corps of this offence - normally i buy in to the idea of potential etc. but other teams get 1st/2nd/3rd/4th round receivers on the field and they play football and they make a difference from their rookie year onwards - they may be inconsistent but they make an impact - why cant we have that?

players drafted after chris moore: malcolm mitchell, tajae sharp, tyreek hill (although i understand why we couldnt draft him)
players drafted after breshad perriman: devin funchess, chris conley, tyler lockett, ty montgomery, jamison crowder, stefon diggs

No one is allowed to question the wizardy of the oz. And eric de costa, what an evaluator eh? i think EDC might be the worst. Whenever i hear about the guys he really liked and they end up bombing like i thought they would it makes me think the future is still going to be bleak.

quite frankly, as painful as this may sound to some people, PFF get their analysis and ratings of college prospects far better than the ravens FO and their so called '' scouts''.

They were not high on Malik Hooker who is looking like a true ball hawk ALL pRO

but they took the next carlos rodgers in marlon humphrey

One guy id like to punch in the face is K.Byrne and is fake ass car salesman we're going to be great, no matter what shit. Always got that silly grin on his face. Cringeworthy.

not sure what ball skills and recognition Rodgers had. humpf can tackle and he can catch a ball. figuring out where its going is another thing entirely

Flacco was purely let down by his teammates. The Maxx Williams fumble... The interception that bounced right off of Perriman. The interception that bounced right off of Moore. What I don't understand is how much the Ravens invested in that defense and they are worse than they were last season. The team doesn't have talent issues, the team has coaching issues. Marty M. again with the shitty play calling that was predictable as hell. Pees' defense is giving up huge plays every game that they didn't last season. Something is clearly wrong with this team and I understand the injury aspect but at some point you gotta have players play. I swear no other team in the league has issues dialing up different plays on offense, hell even the Bears threw in a trick play to score. This game Flacco was accurate for the most part besides a couple throws. The skill position players cannot play. Marty M. should be fired. This team cannot be a dink and dunk team they do not have the players that can run in space and gain yards after the catch. This team did WELL throwing the ball downfield last week and then they only took one shot today and it was overthrown (which Perriman may have had a shot at it if the corner block his path.) Every other team in the NFL makes no named receivers stars. This team is trash and it starts with the coaching. I like Harbaugh and Rosburg for the most part. Pees and Marty need to fix things. This roster is talented even without the injuries that they should look better than this. Seriously the offensive scheme is terrible.

I haven't read the entire thread so I'm not sure if officiating has been discussed. The calls/non calls in the 1st quarter were beyond ridiculous and robbed any chance at building momentum or rhythm. Not using this as an excuse, but damn! It sure didn't help.

Trestman is not without flaws. But he was very capable of scheming receivers open. I was never in favor of firing him. There was usually somebody open in his schemes. Even Aiken was open in his schemes. I didn't like idea of firing him without somebody proven to run a throwing attack and scheme his players open. I argued this with my boss and said it was a mistake to fire him without somebody proven capable to run a competent throwing attack. Even without a good running back and a NO.1 WR the throwing game was productive.

Like I said to my boss would you prefer the throwing attack to go back into the dark ages of NFL offenses?? Cuz without somebody proven to at least scheme players open the offense will take a step back. Trestman has learned from some of the great offensive minds. He is a least competent at running a throwing attack. Of course he has flaws!! He wasn't mixing run plays in nearly enough and Flacco was making to many attempts. But at least 37 yr old SS and Aiken were running open on his watch. I'm pointing blame at Marty and the front office when we play this. blame game!!

In my opinion This regime returning is gonna lean on some young players showing something significant by Seasons end. The owner Biscotti is gonna need a reason to be optimistic next year. And that means Perrimans, Moores, Bowser Williams Judon Henry Max Correa Bronson showing something. Not to mention the free agents like Jefferson. He hasn't adapted to intermediate and deep coverage as optimistically expected. And he is being paid good money. I believe he can adapt. He has instincts and athleticism to play intermediate and deep. But Weddle I never liked the signing cuz of his age. I thought he would give us a good season maybe 2 b4 he slipped.

Yeah the calls all game long were very questionable.... They did get better as the game went on but man.

The refs screwed us out of a safety in the first qtr, never called hands to the face on Jensen and so on and on and so on. However you can’t blame this game on the refs, we were piss poor yesterday and didn’t play like we wanted it.

I refuse to believe that that all the players on our offense suck. We have been so incosistant on offense for several years now and to me the main problem is coaching. I don't know about you guys bit when I saw we picked up Maclin I was very excited. Wallace, Maclin, Perriman, Watson looked really good on paper and yet we have one of the worst offense in the league.
Something has to change they can't expect different results doing the same thing. Marty doesn't know how to use the middle of the field and doesn't know how to use slant passes I guess , and the list can go on.

I completely agree with your statement that all the players we have on offense do not suck and it is all about coaching, Marty’s got to go and the sooner he goes the better off we will be.

I think Jeremy Maclin and Alex Collins have both proven to be play makers.

But do me a favor and name the rookie receivers and tight ends the Ravens have had a lot of success with recently and we'll begin to understand why they target veterans.

Yes those three turnovers all happened when we were re

the main problem on offense is talent and the subsequent lack of playmakers.
We have no one on offense other than the injured Yanda that is Pro Bowl caliber .
Most of our players range from poor to good but not great , Yanda being the exception .

Oh add Justin Tucker

i really dont like kevin byrne either - like he makes me feel really weird about the team whenever i see him or read anything by him or watch anything he makes - he makes me uncomfortable and a little alienated about the team every single time - but i have to disagree about eric decosta - i love that guy

Eric is a cool guy but a lousy talent evaluator.

I haven't had a chance to read a lot of posts but I hope Joe is not getting the blame for this one. The receivers were dropping the ball left and right.

On the defensive run game I thought we set the edge real well but when they cut it back inside we got gashed. Where the hell was the ILB's?

The commenting team was also atrocious.

This may not be a game we shoulda lost but any given Sunday............. so we got the Packs and Vikes games in the bag
