Dont like this. We should not be putting Oweh in a position to get hurt on special teams. He looks like hes going to be a very good pass rusher.

ravens play special teams if they're good at it no matter their pedigree - ed reed used to do it, last year calais campbell and judon frequently played on special teams - only guy who didnt play much who probably would/should have otherwise has been patrick queen

yeah i lean that way too - just pointing out a scenario in which it's possible it makes sense for them to allow an open RB 3 competition

not sure proche and wallace will play a ton of ST snaps - but Ricard will, and whoever of richards, westry, welch makes the team will too...

All comes down to inactives too. I think we know probably Wallace, a 9th OL, a 6th DL, a 6th OLB, and probably a guy like Wade are going to be the main inactives with a healthy roster in my scenario. And I'm sure you could easily pick 2 more if you use the PS elevations for a guy like Welch as well.

a guy like jordan richards or kristian welch are obvious PS candidates who will probably/possibly play on gamedays

i agree completely with wallace, wade, a 9th OL and a 6th DL - i know ferguson played well but im still not convinced we keep 6 OLBs but if we do you're right that's the obvious 5th guy

Probably what will end up happening, but to note it'll be more about who is running with certain units and such and less about game by game performance.

Washington is an interesting case though. Was clearly at the back of the rotation but still got a lot of time. Had some flashes but I also some saw tweets that he was responsible for a couple blown coverages. Also didn't get much ST time (only 3 snaps) which doesn't bode well for him. But if he can do enough at S and start to get into the game sooner, I wouldn't count it out.
I believe it was Zrebiec who recently said that he's paid a lot more attention to who has played 1st team ST ever since Zach Orr made the teams, since he himself played on the first team special teams unit in his rookie year.

Bam Bradley, Vince Mayle, Chris Board... all guys you wouldn't have expected if you weren't paying attention to who is on these ST units. Always a great indicator of who is in prime position.

It has changed a bit with the new PS rules though. Can still keep that pure STer on the practice squad for a couple of weeks and then figure out the roster spot later.

think chris board was the guy who finally made me start paying attention to this stuff

yes they do. That being said, I certainly hope Tavon Young says off of special teams. We need him in bubble wrap.

who played 1st team ST on Saturday?

As far as the opening kickoff went, it was most of the normal guys... Levine, Harrison, Averett, etc. Geno Stone was the notable one in that unit.

For punts, Westry was the main call out. Still not sure he did super well as a gunner but they're giving him the opportunity to earn it.

V is motivating as hell. Glad we signed this guy

first kickoff the players i saw:
Fort, Board, Stone, Duvernay, Harris (who's already been cut), welch, hayes, hill, harrison, averett - as well as tucker i think that's the 11

first punt had westry and oweh in and jordan richards too - pretty sure harris wasnt in on any punts

but actually looking at my notes i misremembered how much westry played at gunner - but we had victor and justice hill as the gunners on the 2nd punt, harris and jaylon moore on the 3rd punt

which actually makes me take back what i said about westry et al.

in terms of special teamers outside of gunner, brandon stephens not in on the first couple of special teams plays but then was on most of the units later on and looked like he might become one hell of a special teamer

In preseason?

I'd like to see you update this with each preseason game, if you get a chance. I'd like to see Ar'darius Washington make the team, but do feel the appearance on 1st st unit is a big deal. Although both Stone and Washington had good games the other night.
I didnt watch all of it, what did washington look like?

Watkins and Stephens were both minor injuries

I just don't trust any of that stuff. We've already seen minor injuries can be 2 or 3 weeks. At this point, a 2 or 3 week injury might mean your missing game 1. Idk I just don't buy into harbs' comments on injuries because he's said things that are clearly not true many times over the years with respect to timelines.

Regardless let's say they're both back in a couple of days, that would be great. In the meantime, Who the hell is even practicing at WR. Duv, Proche, Moore, and Victor. Is there even anyone else on the squad lol?

2-3 weeks. Let’s see. 2 weeks from this day is 8/31. 3 weeks from this date is 9/7. It’s an almost full 4 weeks until we play our game on 9/13

I mean damn my Ravens Fam, I’ll admit I’m an anxious person in terms of football. But either I’m correct in being cured of worrying about minor 1-3 weeks of injury reports, or I’m right in there being little worries to talk about in that regard
