The 2021 Offseason Thread

Don’t forget Queen’s athleticism
I'm expecting our top 3 picks from 2020 to have a big jump year two and I wouldn't be surprised to see both Malik Harrison and Devin Duvernay to be a big jump also. So far James Proche has had a really good camp.

Duvernay seems poised for a jump this season.

he's the guy with the most obvious areas of improvement and with the best means of the vets to actually realistically show that improvement - he's got 2 wr coaches including 1 who's a noted route-running savant who are there to help him use his dynamic traits and good hands to become a weapon

even if we just see his releases get better he'll be a usable weapon in this offence on backside slants etc.

what im hoping with duvernay is that he can develop enough this offseason to be able to punish teams for putting their attention elsewhere

i dont want to get over excited about proche because there's not been any contact yet and because he's such a short-strider as a route runner

but i hope he can be that reliable trustworthy interior guy a bit like snead was for us

First note from the ravens stadium practice footage:

odafe oweh... he's so athletic they aren't just repping him on punt coverage but as a gunner

Real smart harbaugh, get your high upside super raw first round pick injured playing WAY out of position before his career even starts

Tyre getting the first shot at LG which makes sense given he won the RG job last year before the injury and then the OL collapse
and with Mekari playing tackle that suggests to me that 1) he's not in the mix anywhere on the interior for a starting job and 2) he might be in the mix as a swing tackle option and might be a backup at all 3 positions for us in 2021

nigel warrior playing outside corner...

the more you can do i guess - he never struck me as that kind of safety but hey if he can do it then it makes him more likely to stick

More about the unnatural movements, Oweh is too damn big and heavy to be trying to bend around blockers at full sprint like that, for such an inconsequential role

i mean it's more about beating guys or even double-teams at the LoS and getting downfield - it's not dissimilar to edge rushing - you're trying to get clean and penetrate

worryingly both Tyre and Cleveland struggled a bit in the pass rush drills i saw
neither big country elevated himself lol

This is the same energy I have for Bateman albeit he's a rookie. To have 3 adequate WR threats along with Andrews will go a long way. I'm also hoping that Dobbins become a better pass-catcher too.

Yeah but it’s just the speeds you do it, seems unnatural for a mf as massive as Oweh to be trying to bend and disengage at full sprint like that lol

Good lord can you imagine getting hit by him coming full speed. Gonna need a spatula.

think it says a lot about bateman because no one else is giving marlon issues
and bateman tbf is the type of receiver that marlon has struggled with (as much as marlon struggles with anyone lol)
He reminds me so much of Stefon. No elite speed, but wins by creating separation and is physical when needs to be. They also both have swagger. I loved that jersey wipe and when he tapped Marlo earlier in the offseason after beating him. I love how he plucks it out the air as well. He’s so savvy and I remember Walter saying he’s going to suck in the NFL because of being unable to create separation and he reminds him of N’Keal.
