Playoff Picture

Alright so I just played on the NFL playoff machine ( http://www.espn.com/nfl/playoffs/machine really cool check it out) and I put in extremely realistic scenarios and played it out. I had us losing to the Steelers and Lions, and we make the playoffs in any way (besides the Bills beating the Pats twice and Dolphins once, switched, or a different team going undefeated, (90% unlikely). I even marked us down losing to the Bengals also, we would go in at 8-8. (tiebreaker over the Chargers and Bills cuz AFC losses). If we fuck this up I swear...

Think positive, hopefully we get Stanley back, stay healthy, and Joe can put up enough point for our defense to keep feasting!

I think there are 3 defences that scare opposing teams this season: jags because they are lethal and overpower you, the Vikings who might have the best team defence in the league, and the ravens who are likely going to turn you over and the ravens dime package is scary (note this is why Green Bay used the hurry up/no huddle to try and keep base defence on the field)
 
The fact that we are the six seed currently is shocking considering how badly we've played. but I have to imagine that it emboldens the ravens players all the more .
We may have seen the last of the less than spirited version of the ravens and I expect they will play with a renewed fire going forward .
 
The only team that can really keep the Ravens out is the Chargers at this rate. Honestly, we were better off if the Bills hadn't thrown that game because the Chargers will likely win there next 2 before HOPEFULLY losing 2 in a row

I disagree. The only team that can keep the Ravens out of playoffs now are the Ravens.

Yeah the Chargers just tend to have people believe in them then break their hearts. Their schedule is really favorable but that 0-4 start might have dig them in a hole too deep to get out of.
 
Since winning the Super Bowl, we've heard the phrase "The Ravens control their own destiny" in multiple seasons. In 2013, we started 4-6. Then, we won 4 straight to become 8-6. Had we won out, we would've won the division. Instead, we lost out. In 2016, we go out 8-6 AGAIN and AGAIN we would've won the division had we won out. Instead, well..........you know the drill.

There are two common denominators in both seasons. Week 16 was against a hated rival (NE in 2013 and PIT in 2016). Week 17 was against the Bengals. While the Colts aren't rivals per se, I'm sure there are some Ravens fans who hate the Colts. And guess who we play week 17? That's right, those damn bengals yet again.

Moral of the story? Don't go 8-6 after 14 games. The rest of the season seems that we were set up for failure. Oh, a bonus common theme between those two seasons: the offense was a huge question mark. Well folks, you get the picture.

i mean the colts are pretty trash as teams go - interested to see jacoby brisset against our defence with ty hilton but otherwise not worried about the colts at all

and for the first time in forever that season ender vs the bengals is in baltimore

Ain't that right?! Since 2012, the only time we made the playoffs, one thing happened that didn't happen in 2013, 2015, or 2016: we didn't end the season at the Bengals. I just love how the Steelers get a doormat in their season finale.
 
I’m as optimistic a person as they come, but don’t count your chickens.......... this ain’t a stacked team that “should” do anything. They are well undermanned on the O line, that group will need to over achieve to help the team into the tournament. And the WRs as a whole are still unproven and will need to remain healthy.

Not saying they don’t make it, but at this point it wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t.

Well fortunately for you guys as well is the fact that the vaunted afc west which was hyped up this season has stunk. Broncos suck, raiders suck, chargers suck and the chiefs started great and then pittsburgh stole their souls for good. Ravens vs jags in the wild card is my prediction. Titans have too easy a schedule to not get the 5th seed.

So if we see the jags, how do you see that playing out?

I think our defense would answer the call this time, bortles would look like bottles rather than shapeshifting into a world beater, however I think the offense would once again fail us. Could be the ugliest playoff game ever, something like 9-6
 
I honestly love this team. How many people get to say their team is a "playoff caliber" team when they win and the "worst team in the league" when they lose lol

I definitely do not see a second blowout definitely a low scoring game. But I do not like the match up of the 30th ranked offense in the league against their defense.

one big difference is that brandon williams is back which should help stop them running over us and getting into 3rd and incredibly manageable over and over again
