The Good, the Bad, and the Great: Week 11 Edition

Indeed. I really noticed this on a few play-action plays where Flacco couldn't even scan the entire field without having to run for his life or get sacked. Makes me wonder if the play developed, would we have seen at least one deep pass? Now I don't want to see a deep pass for the sake of it, but at the same time, it'd be nice to see one against Houston's secondary. Speaking of Houston, I really hope Hurst is NOT the LT. Him going up 1-on-1 against Clowney is gonna be a nightmare to watch.
Yeah I can't get at Joe or Marty for the lack of deep passes this game. It was really unfortunate because he didn't have much time, but the 21 TD to Mike Wallace really did give me a bit of hope that he is going to be the aggressor in the future. It wasn't just Hurst, Howard was pretty bad yesterday. He allowed a sack and plenty of hurries, I think the whole OL was downright terrible and I can't get on Joe or Marty for that. They looked out of sync and I kind of expected it. Hopefully with Stanley back at LT and Hurst at LG, things will open up more.

We need Howard to step it up, he does not look anything like the guy we saw in the first couple of games this season.

Well, moving Hurst to LT messed with the entire right side. Yes Howard had a bad game as well.

47 of alex collins' 50 yards were after contact. Didn't he had an untocuhed 3 yard td run? So virtually literally every other yard he made came after contact.

The oline was atrocious on Sunday

It’s really not just an old wive’s tale that games are won and lost in the trenches. O line play is what turned the season around in 2012. Maybe by some miracle that happens again in 2017.

I don't understand how a guy like that can have a job. It's literally maddening. I'd never seen an idiot like that on TV before watching him.
Yeah, no kidding. It’s like watching a real life caricature of a sports analyst. He’s really the complete asshole and I guess some just enjoy listening to crap. lol

You may be right. It is ridiculous when you think about it. He is a very gifted RB. We need to use him far more than we currently are. With a good O-line that is mauling he'll have several break away runs in each game I am certain. Let's ride him and hope that the O-line with Stanley back can open up some creases.

So it was revealed in a press conference that mallett caused the sideline foul Sunday, harbaugh wouldn't repeat what he said though.

We need investigators to figure this out...

Right, and that's my point. I don't quite understand the play calling. Joe has always worked well from the shotgun, also sugar/no huddle. And like I said there are glimpses of imagination, then right back to vanilla. weird

I agree with you!

I've heard their explanation for not always running the Gun or no huddle is that "if" they score too quickly, it puts the defense back on the field quickly as well. And, that "if" they don't score quickly or at least keep the chains moving that can also contribute to the defense getting back on the field too quickly.

So, their philosophy to avoid that is to "attempt" to be more of a ball control team. Which to me, and for the Ravens; only seems to work when they have a nice lead. And although, I'm personally so done with and absolutely can take no more of Joe Flacco, I have to admit that he does play a whole lot better from the Gun.

These coaches need to uncork and unleash the man! They need to take their handcuffs and reigns off of him and play to that strength of his. Then maybe, just maybe...he won't come out of these games looking and playing like pure :poop: but like an actual so-called "franchise" QB.

Does he player better from the gun? I’ve always preferred him under centre, his quick passes always look better from under centre, he can run play action and bootleg more effectively from under centre...

You don't have to be excited about this win. The good thing is that we beat them and beat them handily. Sure it would have been a much different game with ARod in the game. Lets also not forget less than a week ago you wanted to see how Humphrey would be on Adams.

Yes I said Adams is a start. He is viewed as good but not dynamic and not very good. And he is really overrated and inconsistent even with Rodgers throwing him the ball If he won't be put on Adams then you won't see him on Fuller and juju. Not without significant help. The ravens have a good coverage scheme. Players aren't left on islands. It is effective but the cornerbacks won't get the recognition of their peers. Jimmy will never get the recognition of pro bowl cornerbacks cuz of ravens scheme. Unless he takes chances and makes more picks. It is kinda boring cuz it protects the cornerbacks from dangerous match ups but it is effective. Carr is playing arguably his best ever although the rush hasn't helped much.

This is some pretty crazy shit. Yeah Green Bay is an exceptionally injured team by any measurable standard, but it is really difficult to hold any team to 0 points.

Even with a backup QB, that doesn't change the fact that experienced receivers struggled to get open against the Ravens secondary and the Ravens defense generated pretty regular pressure.

I get that it is Green Bay without Rodgers, Matthews, King, Burnett, Bulaga, Matthews, etc. and it definitely shouldn't be treated like a Super Bowl win or anything. But to completely discount the game because the Packers are currently bad is stupid, especially in light of some amazing individual efforts yesterday.

What is stupid to act as if this will become the normal performance to expect from the ravens consistently. It was an average at best team beating a terrible1-15 caliber team. Do this to the Texans and I will say the ravens are getting better, maybe good

To me Flacco is trash under center. He can't make reads quick enough and always stares down receivers. Sure, he does the playaction well but only if the run game is on point. I prefer him in the Gun.

It seems to me that he is best under center, but that’s just an eye test, unless we are in a hurry up offense. Than I think he plays best from the gun.

I think he can run the play-action and bootleg fine. Honestly I don't think he can't run an offense under center either.

Probably to cater to the lowest common denominator of casual fans. See, I used to be a HUGE fan of First Take, but strictly only for their entertainment. I'll admit, every time he talked about the Ravens in a negative way (when we were a powerhouse), I used to take his comments too seriously and say stuff like "Man, fuck this guy, he doesn't even know what he's talking about." I no longer watch First Take or Undisputed because it's gotten stale and I don't take those dudes seriously....at all. I'll give Skip credit, he knows how to troll and act serious with it lol.

Wait, wait, wait, you expect MARTY to play to the strength of Joe? Hmm. Well, I can't wait until he's inevitably fired because there is nothing he can do convince me otherwise (I understand I'm just a fan).

First, I still watch First Take and Undisputed. Don't care for skip whatsoever. But I'm really digging the First Things First show with Chris Carter more.

Second, you (yes YOU) know good and well that I don't expect a damn thing from Marty. Next question! :smoke:

LOL, the only time I really care to watch Undisputed is the few times when Shannon drops that heat.
