Yeah, I wasn't necessarily meaning he's a top 16 talent, but the top of the draft needs quarterbacks badly.

i mean there's definitely 3 going top 10 (if darnold declares) and maybe mayfield also goes but im not sure anyone inside of the top 10 is gonna want mayfield - will have to wait for the final draft order but i could see mayfield going to a team at the bottom of the first who thinks they are close but not happy with the qb play but in all honesty i see him going top of the 2nd and id still likely think of that as a reach

but then again the season isnt even finished yet and we havent even got close to the senior bowl so how can i say where he'll end up on draft boards and it only takes 1 team to love him for him to go

Let's remember guys like Bortles, Gabbert, Locker, Ponder, Manuel (who Fisher even said was a third round talent) all went in the first and high at that.

Would you agree that using our #1 pick to draft a QB is not only a good move but a necessary one?

Trading up for a change would be refreshing. Ozzie and the "never trade up only down" philosophy is is getting old. The hero worship of Saint Ozzie is another thing that needs to be destroyed.

I think Locker could have been good and Gabbert is doing fine in Arizona. Ponder should have sat much longer. Never liked Manuel or Bortles, personally.

I mentioned them specifically because they should not have been taken in the first.

um what? have you seen the last 2 drafts?
ozzie does trade up and has tried to in the last 2 drafts in the first round but not wanted to get fleeced out of the picks which makes a hell of a lot of sense

and theres no way im giving up 2 first round picks which is what it would take to get a qb who's gonna go in the top 10 - i like mayfield but i dont want him on the ravens for more than 1 pick (and id rather it wasnt a 1st rounder either) - only qbs im trading up for are the top 3 in the class and i dont see them being available anywhere remotely near where we pick

I'm on a seesaw last couple years about Ozzie stuff.
On one hand we are perpetually short of top offensive weapons but on the other he has succeeded to almost always put together very competitive teams. There's perhaps correlation between the two.

Look, stop being delusional, grow up, and stop seeing everything purple as wonderful and flawless. This team is very flawed and everyone not looking at them with childlike wonder knows that.

um what's with the ad hominem dude?
if you were to read virtually everything i write on this forum you'd find me well aware of the flaws of this team and the frustrations with its roster and you'll also find me trying to diagnose the issues and predicting/proposing solutions

just because i still trust ozzie and his draft methods does not mean im drinking purple kool aid - it just means i dont think this 6-5 team is the worst team in the league

having flaws in a roster and trusting a gm are not mutually exclusive

so right back at you - stop being delusional and seeing everything with a dark tint and calling this team a total mess when its not - like it or not there is a middle ground between being bad and good and as a whole that is where our team is right now so ease up and realise that this team is not a catastrophe and everyone not looking at them with pessimistic cynicism knows that

at least this team has a unit that it can hang its hat on... not many teams in the league can say that

Because every other GM in the league trades up in the first as we all know.
