The Offense Thread

So it’s extremely negative and arrogant to talk about Flacco’s flaws? The same Flacco that’s a 10 year vet, one of the highest paid players in the league but quite possibly the worst starting QB? We all don’t live on rainbows and ride unicorns to Candy Land. It’s OK to be objective.

No I didn't say that. You have made these mindless assumptions with me before. You have tried picking this same fight with me before.
I am not interested in your middle school arguements.

People are justified to support their team however they want... I don’t like this idea that wearing purple tinted glasses is a bad thing - for some people fandom is exactly that fandom whereas others like a lot of us here like to dive deeper - there’s a place for discussion and debate but to disparage the way other people support the team and sport when their view doesn’t hurt you is a little demeaning and makes fandom less fun for everyone - politics and society are divided, extreme and intolerant enough - fandom should not be a quantifiable trait - let people enjoy themselves with the ravens (if they can) however they can

Thank you.

If being delusional helps some people "enjoy" themselves, good for them.

And some peole thrive on being miserable.
Not happy unless they are unhappy.
Always needing something to bitch about.

That is exactly what you’re alluding too. You always play dumb but some of us can read between the lines. The members that you included in your post are some of the biggest Flacco homers on here. It’s not that hard to decipher.

The injury didn't ruin Flacco. He wasn't playing well before the injury either on our way to a 5-11 campaign. Ravens were already eliminated from playoff contention and he had thrown 14 tds to 12 ints. Let's not act like the ACL is what brought along bad Joe. He doesn't get full blame for this mess, but his play sure as hell has been a major contribution.

Exactly. Some are just living in denial, referencing to “Playoff Joe” as if he’s just going to become Joe Montana every time he steps foot in the playoffs. He hasn’t been there for a few years now and he’s been the worst starting QB in the league. This offense as a whole is a cluster fuck, but he’s been a HUGE part of it as of late.

You and your assumptions.
So the ONLY negativity on these boards is on Joes mechanics?

My point is that both sides are equally legitimate fandom and shouldn’t be demeaned even if oneself doesn’t partake in their fandom the same way

If you want to make a candid assessment of Flacco, you'll have to look at his entire body of work. His entire body of work suggests that he is essentially sub-par to average during the regular season and gets to be better than average to good in the playoffs that he has played in. (This could be attributable to the fact that he is a better cold weather QB and has nothing to do with clutch genes). But, all in all over the last 3-4 yrs hasn't done much in the regular season to warrant any post season play. But, to say Flacco has regressed one has to pick a point at which his regression began. What is that point in time where he played flawless football for say a stretch of 7-10 games? I couldn't find any. The best stretch he's had and the one that has heightened awareness because it culminated in a SB is the 2012 playoff run and that was a stretch of 4 games. So, if one needs to make an honest assessment about Flacco, you have to admit he's never been a good QB at two very important and critical areas - lack of football IQ and the inability to make his team better with his presence and play.

I can respect your opinion that Flacco didn’t play well in 2015, but if there were issues with his performance back then they looked nothing like the tentative, indecisive play we’ve seen from him this year and much of last. I think he actually started to improve later in the season last year, but any improvement was gone at the start of this year. Whether it’s physically, mentaIly or both, it would seem likely that the ACL/MCL is a big reason for the poor play we have seen since.

Joe being aggressive with his feet was nice to see from him
If he can run a few scrambles (when it's smart to do so), I think it can help catch the defense on its heels because I think Flacco somewhat still has the ability to throw on the run.

There were a few things that Flacco did against the Texans could mean the bulb is lit or there has been somebody high up that has spoken with him. He actually took time to review the tape on at least 2 occasions after offensive drives that I could see. Great! The other thing is he is taking off running when presented with an opportunity and doesn't wait around to get his receivers open to eventually get sacked or worse throw an INT under pressure. Let's see if this is going to continue. If it does, I will gladly take whatever he can give us as long as he avoids turnovers.
