The play calling against Detroit was the best of the year. It produced a rhythm and flow which really sparked not only Flacco but the squad as a whole. Collins showed great speed to the edge, something we haven't seen for years. O line is as healthy as they have been all year and hopefully they perform as well against the better defenses. With some play making consistency at WR the offense could really take off through December.
Just let me have one lmao
Point is they called more downfield plays. Even though Wallace almost dropped that huge one. It really opened up those underneath routes to Moore, Watson, and Maclin, as well as opened more holes for Buck and Collins.
1 yard to WatsonHe assumed it was 2 yards for a first down.
We’ve been calling for play action for the entire season. Crazyso the playcalling was such a different being this week and so much of it was not just down to the deep ball or whatever it was down to variety - we looked like a real nfl offence for once - we used playaction, draw plays, 3 wide, we split danny woodhead outside (with collins still on the field), we used a TE screen when it wasnt the most predictable playcall you've ever seen, we varied the running game nicely, we went to the flats off good run fakes, and our intermediate passing game existed
all of this was facilitated by playcalling that gave the oline a chance to give collins room to work which made the rest of the game so much easier for flacco - and i noticed only 2/3 throws that were either missed or not thrown in the right spot for the receiver - so it was good playcalling, and joe reading the field accurately with time for the first time all year
AND IT WAS MAGICAL
We can do the same type of play calling next week and if it doesnt work people will be asking for marty head againso the playcalling was such a different being this week and so much of it was not just down to the deep ball or whatever it was down to variety - we looked like a real nfl offence for once - we used playaction, draw plays, 3 wide, we split danny woodhead outside (with collins still on the field), we used a TE screen when it wasnt the most predictable playcall you've ever seen, we varied the running game nicely, we went to the flats off good run fakes, and our intermediate passing game existed

We still should fire MartyWe can do the same type of play calling next week and if it doesnt work people will be asking for marty head again
We’ve been calling for play action for the entire season. Crazy
I’m just wondering where this play calling was the entire season. Does he actually do this much better without the brace. Sure he may be able to step into his throws better, but the play calling should have been there all year.

Yep. It's all about being unpredictable and creative and it was like flipping a switch. Of course the degree of difficulty will go up exponentially next week, but it's a a start and a confidence builder. The WRs will have to play much better for the Ravens to get to where they want to go.so the playcalling was such a different being this week and so much of it was not just down to the deep ball or whatever it was down to variety - we looked like a real nfl offence for once - we used playaction, draw plays, 3 wide, we split danny woodhead outside (with collins still on the field), we used a TE screen when it wasnt the most predictable playcall you've ever seen, we varied the running game nicely, we went to the flats off good run fakes, and our intermediate passing game existed

I said it before the game... Bracegate. Called it. Nailed it.yeah i went back to the highlights and couldnt see the brace so may be it really has been affecting his footwork enough to affect things or at least give him less confidence in his movement/mechanics - joe just looked lighter on his feet yesterday
You mean the weights around his leg known as a braceSince the playoffs are coming up Flacco took off the training weights and got serious. Hopefully this is just the start.
The o-line has held up extremely well post Yanda injury. Alex Collins has been an absolute steal for a guy who was cut before his 2nd season in the nfl. Their ability to finish in the red zone yesterday was absolutely shocking.

He looked good against Oakland and had pretty solid games against the Bengals and Browns to open the season, all with the brace on, so I doubt that's the reason.I said it before the game... Bracegate. Called it. Nailed it.
I think you are prezactly correctomundo, hit the nail on the head. Playing not to lose is losing football.Simply put, we stopped playing scared.
I didn't notice a drastic variation in the play calling other than a few more instances of play action, the tight end screen, and splitting Woodhead out. I mean, that may have accounted for six, seven of the plays, but really, this was on Joe.
Joe threw the ball more than 10 yards on 33% of his pass attempts and he looked damn good doing it. Prior to this week, for the previous six weeks, Joe had thrown the ball down the field (more than 20 yards) around 25 times and only connected with a receiver once. I don't know what Joe's completion percent was on these throws, but I bet it was over 60% on all passes over 10 yards and that's really not something we've seen from Joe.
He threw down field more and he threw with accuracy and precision.
