Next Up: @ Bears

It is critical that Lamar practices today. We cannot keep hoping that he plays great without live practice. It is disappointing that he falls sick so often. Unless it is a ruse to rest him up or allow him to recover from a few niggles.

I wouldn't call it critical. It'd be critical if he has an actual injury. If he has the flu, I'd rather see him resting and hydrating than working out on the field trying to push himself harder. That'll only make him weaker come Sunday.

I also seriously doubt it's to recover from small injuries. If he was, it doesn't do them any harm to just say that. Veteran players who are banged up and not practicing until Friday is extremely common league wide, and many of them do virtually nothing on Friday anyway.

I'll be concerned when the team shows some concern, which I've not heard anything suggesting that so far.

Could be another roster crunch week as far as the PS elevations go and what some of the injury statuses are.

Welch, Averett, Ogbuehi, and Boykin the new additions today. Could need to add any of Thomas, Wilkins/Seymour, or Sharpe to cover for the first 3.

BWill is still out and maybe McKenzie or Mack need to be added.

RB is still an obvious spot but McCrary might have to wait another week if there are more immediate needs for Sunday.

I just don't understand the weekly elevations. I guess it is managing the special teams roster as much as it is managing offensive and defensive needs. I guess it's a balance only the coaching staff understands based on the given game plan.

Yeah it's really just having fill ins for injured players where you need depth. We've been using it heavily for OL with all of our injuries there since we need 8 on the active roster in order to have 48 active on gamedays.

But in this case, if Welch is down, you only have 3 ILBs and are missing a core STer. Joe Thomas makes sense.

If Averett is down, you only have 4 CBs. Seymour/Wilkins make sense for depth and ST reasons.

If Ogbuehi is down, you potentially have no backup T unless they keep Tyre there for this week and activate Cleveland.

Just lots of different things at play so you need to choose wisely how you use those 2 to cover for injuries and lack of depth.

Bears placed Mack on season ending IR... damn. I mean it helps our OL a bit and not having to worry about A-Rob helps the defense. I still hate the Bears for tagging him again, he's the number one WR Lamar needs.

idk - if we sign Robinson we definitely aren’t taking Bateman

I much prefer that outcome
I was a huge advocate for trading for ARob but we might have our own ARob and then some in Bateman, plus we can still probably afford Hollywood. Two legit af receivers for Lamar

not signing arob means that if we do extend hollywood we might be able to keep...

lamar, andrews, hollywood, bateman together for at least 3-4 more years

- and for at least the first 2 of those years we also have JK and Gus and Nick Boyle too
- as well as supplementary guys like Duvernay and Proche

this skill position group is in a very exciting position moving forwards but it's future prospects might have looked a lot less exciting if we'd signed Arob and not drafted bateman

Highly doubt that, Bateman was BPA by a country mile and rob would’ve been a short term overpriced band aid, and he also wouldn’t have been enough, and he’s another one who’s been injury prone. Only way I think we don’t take Bateman is if Paye, phillips, or maybe darrisaw falls.
