Fire John Harbaugh Thread

We will see Bradley Bozeman dominate in the 2019 preseason, and harbaughs press conference for week 1 will say...

“Skura has played great, Bozeman has played great as well, but skura is our starting center moving forward”

We will draft some absolute stud at edge rusher or something, and ZDS will get an extension on par with what clowney is gonna get paid and that stud edge rusher will be on the bench except for when he’s setting the edge in run downs.

Marty will be here still, and we will lose a game early on that we should’ve won because we have a 1 possession lead and Marty calls 3 straight end arounds and we give them the ball back, that loss will haunt us and cause us to miss the playoffs.

We will have hearts of lions though, GOOD.

Basically it’s stability above all else for this franchise. We’ll see how that works out

It doesn’t. Coaches times come and go, and sometimes you gotta move on. Steve is as scared to move on from his buddies as John is

No doubt in my mind Marty will be back next year. I just hope we keep Roman and Urban.

Harbaugh extended through 2019 and I think it’s deserved and I have been a severe Harbaugh critic at times
He wasn't extended through 2019 - his current contract goes through 2019. Saying we're keeping him on means (at least as publically stated) that there is no plan to remove him at the end of this season (even if we lose by 30 each game to finish the season ...)

We're in talks to extend him beyond 2019.

What was the rush here? I don't understand. Seems like this statement (decision) should have been made until the season was over.

I trust Biscotti to make the right decision. Although I don't think keeping Harbs is the right one, you gotta think that this hiring comes with some changes.
If you mean it comes with some strings attached for Harbaugh - I don't know about that. I have always had the sense that Steve's philosophy is that he picks the HC and he lets the HC pick his coaching staff. I know that lots of people here say that other OC moves like Cam and Trestman were forced down to Harbaugh from Steve, but I've never really bought that.

IMO - it makes sense for an owner to take that approach. If an owner reaches down into the coaching staff, it feels like they are overstepping their bounds and meddling into areas that start getting into Xs and Os and that's not where you want an owner to be. Also, if an HC is accountable to the owner, then the HC should be fired if their staff is not in order. If the owner dictates the staff to the HC, how can the HC be honestly evaluated?

If I'm right - that may not bode well who want to see the dismissal of Marty. I don't know if Harbaugh and in turn Steve, believe the narrative that Marty has positive experience with QBs in the vein of Lamar. But I believe that if Marty goes, it will be purely Harbaugh's decision.

Think it came out because of the Preston article in the Sun. Timing is too much of a coincidence

What really pisses me off is that we extend him before tomorrow’s game.. now he can go in there with his lion heart and lose and not care, give a rara we need to play better, and laugh evilly as he hurts more players

No doubt this fares well for Marty, unfortunately. This move I believe is purely for Steve to buy time because we've been a middling team. There's also the Lamar effect, who basically saved Harbaugh in Baltimore. However, I think he realizes that some things just aren't cutting it as of right now. He fired the warning shot to Harbs last year, and will undoubtedly maintain a watchful eye over him.

well it's over folks:

I’ve been telling people for a while now practically by myself that this was going to happen. I’m not one to brag but this time I will say I said this was what I was thinking. I don’t think this is a bad thing at all and think this could be fine. I feel Flacco is the issue and I really do believe Lamar is the kind of QB John Harbaugh likes. This isn’t a bad move as far as I’m concerned.

It absolutely did there’s no question.

I would like it if Marty is fired Roman is the new OC and Bobby Engram is replaced. Doubt it happens, but one can wish.

So, you're saying that Steve made the move now because Preston wrote that article, as some sort of vote of confidence for Harbaugh to finish the season?
It’s more likely Baltimore released the statement to quell the comments. We’ve likely been working on this before the article

Well - I certainly didn't think it was a foregone conclusion that he would go. I did think the only way that Harbaugh could save his job and not make the playoffs is to play Lamar and have him look good. That way, as long as we competed, the future of the QB position was succeeding under the current regime.

However, I did think the decision was going to wait until the end of the season.

We definitely had been working on it, but I doubt it would have been released yet if it wasn’t for Preston’s article.
