This would definitely be intriguing, but I doubt he sticks around long if he is successful here. In the offseason he was a head coaching candidate and could be a candidate this offseason also.

Ravens OCs the last 10 years:
Cameron - fans hated him, fired mid-season
Caldwell - led the super bowl-winning playoffs. Led an anemic offense in 2013. Left for a HC job. Meh overall? Or great beacause of the 4-game playoff run? I'm not sure how to count him
Kubiak - Successful season, fans loved him. HC job after one season
Trestman - Did not understand what a roster he had and wanted a dink&dunk offense and gave up on the run as soon as the opponents scored anything. Fans hated him. Fired mid-season (right?)
Morninweg (sp?) - Fans hated him. Led some very mediocre offenses. Forced out between seasons
Roman - Two seasons of historic running game success and excellent win record, but a limited pass offense. This season not so good, but with an O-line similar to the crap we had in 2013. 50% fans seem to hate him. (I don't)
So we've had 1 out of 6 OCs that fans approve of in 10 years (2 if you count Roman, but I seem to be in the minority there). So the hit rate has been pretty shite. Part of that is on Harbaugh who hires these guys, but I don't think anyone suggest firing him at this point, so the next OC isn't exactly high-percentage to become a fan favorite.
That said, *if* Roman is holding back the team significantly, you roll the dice with someone new. But, this year is fucked-up with a crap OL combined with no RBs. So the scheme you've put together in the off-season is pretty much shot; I do not expect the same issues next year if the team gets back to health.
Now, I'll stop my pro-Roman cheerleading and let you get back to your scheduled program.

Guys, what are we doing here? This shell of an offense is top 4 in rushing yards and league average in passing. I would say our run first coordinator is doing a fine job, particularly given the unprecedented level of injuries. I get that things are frustrating at times but I am 100% sure we would quickly realise we didn't appreciate what we had if we moved on.

Absolutely agree, this team is punching well above its weight given the injuries. That's on Lamar, the depth and the coaching, no way should we be getting rid of the above.
If we can have this good of a record with mostly depth players then the league better look out when we get healthy next year!

It certainly helps when your Qb accounts for nearly half of the teams rushing total (762 Yds). Let’s not give Roman credit for Lamar’s amazing ability to extend plays and escape trouble.

There's somethings I don't like about Greg Roman play calling especially when he's using Lamar Jackson so much in the run game but honestly I don't think he deserves to be fired. There has been some improvement in the passing game especially from how it looked last year. The routes being ran by the wideouts dont seem as basic or predictable. Ideally I would think James Urban is the next in line to replace Roman if he ended up leaving for a head coach job or maybe fired but honestly with all the issues we may point out concerning Greg Roman he's probabbly the most creative offensive coordinator John Harbaugh has had.
I just don’t know what we’re expecting from an internal replacement? Like James urban would just be a shiny new thing operating within the same offensive system - I get that he’s more closely linked to Lamar and might be somewhat able to tailor things to Lamar’s strengths more ?maybe?...
I get it though... Caldwell, Mornhinweg, Roman were all internal promotions
but worth pointing out that Caldwell and Mornhinweg both took over midseason after we fired the guy in the building already - when we’ve looked to change things between years we’ve mostly looked outside the building with Roman really the only exception and we spent that offseason making wholesale changes to the structure and operation of the offence

I completely agree. Lamar is not seeing the field well. However, that is a separate issues from Roman’s offense. Everywhere he goes the offense becomes stagnate. Change is good good and this off-season should be the time to move on.

Bet you there were 49ers and Bills fans that said this too. Now they would never want him back.
Roman isn't the issue this season, but I don't see this passing game ever reaching it's potential with him. Especially not when we always have two or three receivers running routes within like ten yards of each other on a ton of plays.
I guess the only benefit to moving on from Roman now is that we’ve got his run concepts etc entrenched in the building now - there’s an organisational knowledge of his running game that makes it somewhat accessible even if we do move on from him

I don't know enough about OC candidates to suggest any (I mostly just watch the Ravens now) and the really tough thing is- if the Ravens hire someone really good, it's probably going to be a Shanahan that leaves in two to three years.
I wish there were more Josh McDaniels types around.
So, I'd have to see the list of candidates, but I don't know enough to suggest one- I just can see what Roman is doing for the Ravens isn't working.
further to this - i think if we're getting rid of roman for a failure with passing concepts etc. it's hard to suggest elevating guys in the building and expect the scheme to drastically change - obviously the ravens will know better about the philosophies and strategies of those guys in the building and it's certainly possible that Urban would have some new ideas given that he's worked closely with lamar for lamar's whole career or that tee martin and keith williams as newer guys from college will have fresher ideas to bring to the table but idk how big those changes would be from an internal hire (we see on defence where we historically mostly hire internally, how the fundamentals often remain coach to coach with slightly different philosophies and methodologies mixed in)...
in terms of outside options it's hard to say - the most high profile guy would be someone like Joe Brady who the panther's just fired but it's possible that despite that he might be a HC candidate somewhere
a lot of the obvious guys are also probably HC candidates (either in the NFL or college)

at louisville under bobby petrino, they ran a hybrid mix of pro and spread concepts with tons of space for tons of athletes on the field and it was unstoppable
we've seen how lamar thrives in space both as a passer and a runner - it makes a lot of sense
