Ravens Ring of Honor
Blitz baby blitz!!! Blitz or die should be our motto the rest of the season. We have no choice. Humphrey,Peters and Elliott are just too much to lose in the secondary.

We got Kevin Harlan and Trent Green this week... at this point I'd rather not have the good announceers lol.
So what's up with Nick Boyle. He plays one game like Ronnie did and all of a sudden he's not playing again.
This is not a fucking good look and I'm pissed.
If these guys aren't ready , don't fucking activate them. Fuck i'm pissed.
Two Pro Bowl players !
Would love to watch our alignments and know what we're telling rushers to do. I personally think we have the guys to rush 4 and get pressure.
I like Harlan.
It is to early for you to be drinking. Which of the D line or OLB corps do you think is capable of providing consistent pressure? I was incredibly pissed we rolled into the season with our pass rush hopes relying on Houston, Bowser, and a rookie. The only positive in our pass rush is Oweh, who has showed a lot of promise.

I mean it's not consistent pass rush, but Oweh, Houston and Bowser have each had games where they've been dominant. I quite like our OLB room this year, will be interesting to see what we do in the offseason when we (likely) lose Houston.
Respectfully, i disagree completely. Bowser was a desperation signing, average player that provides moderate to low pass rushing ability. Oweh I am beyond excited for, think he has a chance to be really special with us. Houston reminds me of the the Nkague signing. Minimal impact , doesn’t seem to fit.

I was mostly referencing the secondary as a unit itself, which is in a much better spot than it was in 2014. The total defense itself may be worse off, but that's still yet to be decided. I loved the pass rush we had back then, but I also felt like a lot of teams weren't built to exploit it (except the Patriots, which did), by running short drops and getting the ball out quick, thus largely eliminating the edge rush.
That being said, this team is still very good on 3rd down and in the red zone, which is where I think the point of emphasis should be. Might need to play a lot more Cover 1, Cover 2, and zone, in order to eliminate the big play and just clamp down in the red zone. This team doesn't have to start giving up tons of points if it plays well situationally. The biggest fear I have is that Wink is just going to keep bringing blitzes and leaving less skillful Corners in man situations, where they'll give up big plays.
Houston has been worth every penny but the fact that he's #1 in pressures is a little disappointing in regards to the rest of the team considering that we signed him late into the offseason.bowser wasnt a desperation signing at all? he was the swiss army knife that might have been one of the most important weapons of our defence if the secondary hadnt fallen apart with injuries
his ability to rush the passer, set the edge, and also cover WRs, TEs, RBs in man and zone is outrageously valuable and a bargain given what we paid him (i thought we were gonna have to fork out 8m/yr or something like that to retain him)
and houston's also been worth every penny... been a really impactful edge rusher creating lots of pressures and remember he's only being paid 2m to play here too...
The unit I agree with but that secondaries can be hampered by what's around them.
I mean let's be honest here, besides 3rd down and the red zone this secondary has it's issues and we've seen plenty of breakdown in communication, poor tackling, and technique. This is one of the weirdest performing defenses in recent memory. Honestly, I think Marlon does a lot to cover for this group. I believe he was first among all CBs in incompletions and teams still had to test him so they don't get away from their playbook. Things change massively when you lose a CB of that caliber. There's a good reason why our defense would fall off a cliff when Jimmy went down to injuries. I mean, we can look back on the Giants game in 2016, Jimmy was doing an amazing job on Beckham Jr., got concussed and Odell goes off for over 200 yards. I don't think Antonio Brown records over 200 yards in Dec. 2017 against us if Jimmy is healthy. I don't like Averette against Adams, Kupp or Chase at all, I would feel much better with Marlon against those guys.
Wink is not going to get away from the blitz because he knows he doesn't have a four or five-man front that will get to the QB. Even Baker had plenty of ATS plays(50%) on his drop-backs on that SNF game, that's a massive amount that he couldn't take advantage of. I mean he could play 2 man under and try to keep everything underneath, but he would just allow QBs to wait in the pocket and pick them apart. I think he's going to have to continue more deceptive blitzes and hope he can disrupt QBs timing & rhythm and throw them off for the entirety of the game. That's on top of the fact that they can't force turnovers.

Remember when DeVonta Smith claimed the entire Ohio State secondary as his sons on his taxes?oh man ja'marr chase is gonna bully us
at least stylistically tavon and averett matchup better against adams and kupp that they have a chance to do something against them
but chase is just gonna run over and through and past whoever we put on him lol

Oweh, bowser, Houston, madubuike, Campbell, that’s a 5 man rotation that absolutely can get pressure if you allow them to. Wink quite literally will take players who can get pressure and not allow them to pressure because he wants long looping stunts that will never get home, and wants to use his best edge rushers to free up db blitzes. It is to early for you to be drinking. Man jihad ward was such an underrated player here, he was the perfect fit for our scheme, seems not too many players fit our front seven and look better here than anywhere else, but ward was that type.you know who I miss who we could really have used this year with all the DL and EDGE niggles... jihad ward
And in my opinion, the latter is what he's going to have to do, i.e. not blitz nearly as much, play zone or soft coverage, and frankly allow QBs time to throw and hope the back end can make plays. The unit I agree with but that secondaries can be hampered by what's around them.

I bring up Smith's performance to say that is what Chase will do to our poor secondary.tbf they also did the dumbest move of allowing him to be singled covered by a LB too in that game lol...
But yeah Shaun wade especially was put in the blender
