The 2022 Offseason Thread

You wouldn't be a fan of anyone other than Phillips at that spot. You're completely sold on him and anyone else sucks

i mean im not sold on him in the fact that i'd welcome an upgrade

but you're right in that i think he's the best option currently on the roster - although id have no issues if pat mekari was the starting LG either although it would be disappointing to me that not one of the 3 alternatives managed to win the job

but why do you like cleveland? what things has he shown that indicate to you that he's a "starting NFL OL"

i think it's interesting the way tee martin talked about james proche yesterday (only just getting around to watching his presser)

when asked about the improvements proche can make to this game to get more opportunities he talked about just continuing to take advantage of the opportunities that come his way (pointed at the broncos and bengals games last year as examples) - in comparison to talking about wallace and duvernay and on what improvements they look for

and yet idk he didnt seem particularly enthused about proche

maybe this is just me over-reading things
I noticed this too. But its kinda weird because he believes there's plenty of things fundamentally that the other two can do. But for Proche it was more like just make it happen. Maybe that means he's showing out in practice, but it needs to translate to games. Idk it was weird.

If you recall I posted stats on the efficiency of the WRs and Proche was most efficient and by a lot. Its just his snap numbers were so low. Hard to tell, might mean nothing.

I actually think Mekari could be the starter at left guard and agree with @rossihunter2 that it would be a little upsetting that our 3rd round picks didn't win the job. I do agree with Rossi and Simba that Phillips is the best one for the job.

I like him because he’s country tough, a former bulldog, and just has that it factor about him that says he’ll be a very tough as nails blocker

Anyone outside of Z that played on our oline last season was terrible or below avg

well lucky for you that it's highly likely we'll have at least 3 and maybe 4 upgrades this year lol
Ronnie at LT upgraded over villanueva
LG is the questionmark - got to think powers doesn't retain the job purely on a default basis given that he's the most veteran and has lost every single camp battle he's ever been part of - got to think it's either Tyre, Cleveland or Mekari
Linderbaum shorter-term may not be an upgrade on Bozeman straight away but definitely will be longer term and i think will be quickly at least the same if not better
Zeitler's the same
Moses is an upgrade on the rotational circus we had at RT the last 2 years with 2 backups behind him as well in James and Faalele and that's before you even include Mekari

Phillips has time and time again shown that he can't do it. I badly want Cleveland to win the competition. As should everyone else other than those with a personal agenda who want Phillips to win just because he's Tyre Phillips and they need to be proven right.

Can’t wait for Tyre “sweet feet” Philips to beat your boy for that starting role.

Why are we just asserting who is better? Lol. Realistically they're all subpar options except maybe Mekari.

Cleveland has been below average and hurt
Tyree has been extremely hurt
Powers is average At BEST
Mekari is probably at least average maybe slightly above average.

Oh i like the upgrades.. i was saying that we need atleast 2-3 new olinemen for us this year… i just saw you all talking about phillips and cleveland

Didnt proche mention something about special teams not too long ago on his twitter? i dnt remember what it was but i think he was saying how its nothing wrong with playing ST?

Yea something along the lines of swallowing your pride and playing special teams to get a shot

Seems like Likely is the clear front runner between he and Kolar. What I don't get though is he looks like an actual twig. Not very different from a WR at all. How is this guy gonna block anyone?

Right now, he seems to have gained Lamar's eye at the very least. But, both are going to be phenomenal for the Ravens.
