The 2022 Offseason Thread

i mean sure but also stephens came on strong after taking over for elliott and he and chuck are fine back there

no idea what we do at corner with the vets but could make a good argument for adding another high quality corner to the room over a safety

and it doesnt really matter if oweh is the guy or not because you need at least 2 EDGEs anyway and we've only got 2 and 1 of them is bowser who's a versatile player more than a true edge and is also now going to be returning from a torn achilles

just looking for quality guys everywhere - would love to add a playmaker at safety but also DL, EDGE, CB and even LB - just need to add talent and playmakers to the defence whatever that looks like
If there is one move I think we make this off-season it’s for a saftey. I know we like Stephens and chuck but I’m betting strongly we make a move for someone, just based on how edc talked about it.

I agree. I think we like Stephens a lot and he should continue to play but I also think they want to use him all over the field in some respects. Dime guy who can play the matchup games.

Think its going to come down to what we've been saying for awhile... the defense needs playmakers. People who can get to the QB and force turnovers. Was one of the keys to the 2020 defense. It really wasn't all that dominant, but they could certainly force turnovers. Personnel effected that last year obviously, but we took a big step back.

And when you think pressure and turnovers, we're primarily talking edge rushers and secondary players. We know we'll have at least two strong Corners already, but I think a play making safety is very much on their radar.

I like what I see from Bateman-solid, good hands, holds on after hits, not afraid of hits-all good qualities, I hope they use him more and more. I'd like to see what he can do downfield, OL permitting I guess.. But can a sole slot receiver be a team's #1?
Edelman was a #1 WR and I feel Bateman is better on the outside, than in the slot. Good thing is he can play both positions.

Thanks, I appreciate the context. Having looked at the last 2 SB winners, Bucs had Godwin and Evans, Rams had Kupp and OBJ. So to win the SB, would Andrews and a supporting cast be enough?
that is only the last two super bowls. Most SB winners over the years didn't have a true #1 WR. And to be quite honest with you, a few #2 grade WRs is perfectly fine. Right now we have Bateman, Hollywood and Andrews and Andrews is top 3 or even 2 TE in the league.

Crazy cause we didnt at any position besides yanda and tucker lol.. everyone else were basically at end of their career or just not world beaters and suggs was basically injured.. we had smart football team though and every played well together
Flacco was playing like a world beater through the post season, add in Boldon and Pitta, but WRs we had absolutely know world beaters.

We need to attack oline hard in free agency so we go after one of those defensive guys in 1st rnd.. cant miss out on a game changer this year..

So, after the combine who stood out to you guys and give me 5 guys that would make you happy.
I'll give you my five:
Sauce Gardner
Cross
Travon Walker
Jermaine Johnson
Daxton HIll (assuming Kyle Hamilton is gone).

Kyle Hamilton (reckon there's a slim chance)
Jordan Davis
Travon Walker
Devonte Wyatt
David Ojabo (reckon he's the most likely get)

Dipping back to FA, because we have so many picks I feel like we need to do less in FA this year, at least in terms of hiring depth. We can always get more bodies post draft if there's the odd hole lingering

Pre draft I think we'd be in a pretty good spot if we managed to =>
1) Retain Tavon Young
2) Resign Calais Campbell
3) Resign LJ Fort
4) Get a cheapish tackle (I've heard Morgan Moses floated around)
5) Make a splash signing on a stud C (I've heard Ryan Jensen as a possibility)

At 14:
Travon walker
Derek stingley
Jermaine johnson
Sauce gardner
Charles cross

If any of those 5 make it to 14 then it’s a great outcome

It is entirely possible though however that all 5 might be gone before 14 which would be disappointing

I think one of the top three will be there at 14.

I think Cross and Gardner go in the top 10.

Basically hoping there’s some QB movement up there as well as some WR movement. Board feels like it’s stacked to either really work out for us or all of those prime guys will just miss us depending how teams in that 6-11 range approach this year.

Just saw a neal vs walker video and dam walker couldmt get around that guy at all

He schematically wasn’t asked to rush off the edge much (basically that lack of true edge rush reps is basically the only reason he’s not the obvious number 1 overall pick) - he also destroyed neal on a push-pull at one point too - might have been the only time I saw neal hit the ground all season

I’m worried we’ll miss out - I’ve got a list of 10 guys I really want at 14 and I’m a little scared they’re all gonna be gone

Hutchinson
Thibodeaux
Walker
Johnson
Hamilton
Sauce
Stingley
Ekwonu
Neal
Cross

If any of those guys are there at 14 I’ll be elated

Jeremy Fowler said multiple teams see Project Pat as a "hybrid tight end" and said a team could try and lure him for a bigger receiving role. Why the hell can't we be that team?
