The 2022 Offseason Thread

Felt like this presser was a lot more vague than the veiled lies they usually throw here. EDC basically said there are options in rounds 1-4 for basically every single position he was asked about lol

Only kind of worthwhile nugget is that they feel they're going to be filling some of those holes post draft which isn't really much of a surprise but still noteworthy. Said you could see a couple of signings in the next couple of weeks but sounds like the FA is certainly at much more of a standstill right now.

vague as hell, the most honest thing he said is we most likely wouldn't be taking a RB in the first round when answering one of the reporters.

He also said we like big guys across all OL spots. This could be a lie and they end up drafting Linderbaum at 14 and he is 296

Another truth. could have more or less than 10 picks when it is all said and done. lol (could have 10 picks also)

Unlikely to find one in round 1, which means you're getting a fringe LT in probably any other round.
Definitely not a guy I'd have high confidence in stepping out there week 1 and starting.
sneaky feeling we're high on Penning much to the board's chagrin

I guess the only other noteworthy thing is related to how they approach C. Said it's a tough position to draft because they typically only have 5 or so that they rate an NFL level in any given draft. Said they subscribe to the idea of taking bigger Gs or Ts and converting them when they can.

I really want Cross unless someone like KT, Stingley, Hamilton, or Sauce somehow fall
I'm not sure Cross will even be there.

Penning scream Seahawks to me...

EDC also said they're not necessarily looking for a guy who was a C in college. Mentioned Mekari and Jensen as examples of College OT who they converted to Centers.

Im not even concerned about us taking him at 14… idc how good he is, i feel like it would really be a waste of pick.

I stopped listening half way in. There’s nothing really meaningful you can take from it lol

i havent listened to the whole thing yet but i just paused it just after he talked about this specifically for this point

historically the ravens have valued size at the position, and that doesnt seem to be changing - could be a smokescreen of course (just like literally anything they say at this point) but no reason not to think it's sincere based on their scheme and their history

specifically as a response to a question about C it feels sort of telling - maybe some of these undersized guys can bulk up, or maybe some of these bigger guards and tackles can shift inside (as some have already been projected) but feels very unlikely we'll break our mould and take a sub-300lb C

specifically with regards to size and frame here - talked about a culture of having smaller guys inside but that we like bigger guys

and tbh i think they've been mostly proven right that that's a good attitude to take at the position - while lots of high quality college Cs are undersized, very few high-level NFL Cs are... basically Jason Kelce and everyone else
