The 2022 Offseason Thread

we could use a guy like aaron donald too, he's pretty good also
also would like a john ogden and a calvin johnson and a myles garrett too - we should try finding those guys also

also really think we should try and add big foot to our roster also
Dont forget ed reed

Big Foot would be all we need. Add him to the OL and Loch Ness to the DL and we should be set.

Guess I should have been a bit clearer. We could use a big bodied, tough as nails receiver that fights for the catch and gets a bunch of YAC. The guy we’ve never had, closest being post season Boldin.

But I’m good with all the rest as well. lol

Naw you said it correctly.. we really could use a deebo samuel

well that's not deebo either lol

also big bodied tough guys who get a bunch of YAC basically dont exist in the league at WR right now - there's some TEs who do it for sure

but at WR we're talking about jamarr chase who's not actually a big body but plays like it (and is also an alien)

so feels like it's maybe ceedee lamb and not sure anyone else fits the bill...

I don't see a major difference between Samuel and Duvernay except for Roman's archaic ass

completely different athletes and physicalities - and duvernay doesnt have the vision inside that deebo has - obviously the coordinator matters but... they're on different planets in terms of ability - as @RavensMania said, deebo's special because of his flexibility and change of direction skills in addition to everything else - duvernay's a much stiffer athlete

Deebo Samuel was an elite route runner at the college level, duvernay after 2 full seasons is an inferior route runner than Deebo was in college

Ironically one of the lesser names that come to mind for big bodied yac receivers… jauan Jennings, the niners wr3

Duvernays stiffness had me calling him a 5th rounder.

he hasn’t necessarily made me change my grade, and Roman hasn’t done him many favors but I think a lot of that falls on duvernay.

yeah i thought of him too although he came out of college as a specialist big slot - and again he's a pretty unique guy in that his traits suggest he shouldnt be as good as he is/was at getting YAC but there he was in college doing it

he was someone i really struggled with in terms of grades and kept bouncing between him as like a 4th rounder and completely undraftable

i think i had him in the top 100 but also had him as WR 18 in that class

the 3 guys i really liked in that range were Tyler Johnson, Gabriel Davis and Darnell Mooney

i will say that duvernay was a lot better in 2021 with his route running and it's clear the work that he put in with coach dubb especially with his release to create space for himself and make the most of his linear athleticism

Do you prefer going the route of free agency to beef up the O-line or the D-line? The line that doesn't get free-agent help must get draft help. That's how I see this.
I'll always prefer to try to fix at least one issue through the free agency before draft. If we could grab a genuine, starting caliber tackle in FA it'd take so much pressure off of the draft.

Amen. I fully agree with you. One area of the trenches must be fortified through free agency. That relieves pressure on our draft and keeps competing teams guessing too.

Percy harvin was actually a better version of deebo tbh.. yea ive said that about duvernay a few times before lol.. im used to seeing guys like deebo samuel my whole life so its easy to really tell the difference. Shit i was calling lamar a better runner than vick even while in college
Nahhhh lol like others said Deebo is elite at either positions. He can play both at a very high level and he has a combination of traits just not seen in many players that ever played the game.
