The 2022 Offseason Thread

also lol - didnt bateman do the exact same thing where he scrubbed his socials in the middle of the season and a load of fans melted down because they thought he hated the ravens because he wasnt getting the ball or targets... which was also clearly bullshit

and it's obviously transparently the socials scrubbing that has prompted the weird fake rumour from the fake sources account

love that one of them talked about their sources at yahoo and in baltimore - there are legitimately major national outlets that havent got sources in baltimore that know anything - so no way random twitter fake insider will lol
It's how you know it's the offseason. People are bored so they'll make up nonsensical rumors like this. These "insiders" couldn't even wait another year to at least make the story somewhat believable. Bro hasn't even gotten his 2nd contract (or even his option?), but yeah, sure buddy.

There's plenty of people on Twitch and Youtube who have made that their jobs so it's not entirely unbelievable, except for the source.
you absolutely can make a career out of being a youtuber, especially if you have a good channel. That being said, I it isn't the norm to make multi millions per year as one either. As @Simba said, that tweet was bogus.

Uhhhh, what?

14 is a really goos position to be picking at. The more I've thought about it, the more I'm convinced an early pick at any position not OL/DL/OLB is a big mistake. I know you pick BPA but we also know that if a WR was BPA at 14 for whatever reason, we wouldn't be taking him.

This team has spent so much capital on a building the defense back to front philosophy and I think the data is showing year after year now that that just isn't exactly right.

You have Marlon and Peters. That's a great start. Fill out that room with cheap FAs and upside guys later in the draft.

If we're not heavily investing in our OL and pass rush and then trying to fix the disaster of old and broken down players on the DL, I think we're just overcomplicating things to the point it's detrimental to the team.

im not convinced that a CB won’t be BPA when we pick tbh

i also think with the way this class is grading out that it’s unlikely a true “blue chip” guy is gonna be available at 14 - I have a feeling the difference in grade between who gets picked at 14 and who gets picked at 20ish are not gonna be that different

right now I’m team trade down unless a top 6 or 7 player falls to us

Right, I think that's why so many people fell for it.

And to be honest, I watched a couple minutes of the fortnite tournament he did and wasn't that impressed. He's not quite ready to be a professional streamer yet lol

Oh its totally possible CB or S could be BPA, but that it would just not make sense to pick them. If that's the case I'm also team trade down.

idk - if someone like derek stingley were to magically fall to us, im not going to worry about it... ill deal with the trenches later and just take the highly talented dude

But with flat class, finding a trade partner will also be more difficult unless there are the "right" QB needs below us. But I agree on trading down if possble

obviously it takes 2 to tango but i also think the messiness of the class means team evaluations are likely to be more various - it's more likely that different teams will see different prospects differently and may have higher grades on those different prospects

especially at WR and QB, i have a feeling those grades are going to vary massively from team to team
Linderbaum also will likely have massive grades from zone teams vs good ones from gap or power teams
Mcduffie may well have a huge grade from a team that runs a lot of cover 3 and lots of zone type stuff but may not have such high grades from more man-based teams

etc. etc. etc.

it could well turn out that lots of teams see the class the same as the ravens and wont want to move up into that spot but i also think its very possible that a team might want to move up for a QB or an OL in that spot

Almost every year I clamor to people who say we need to pick for need that we don't do that, we stick to the board. But this year just feels different man. It's hard to explain but I feel this Ravens team is very much at an inflection point. It's hard to know what's in the FO heads.

i get that it's nerve-wracking given the lack of talent on the DL and also the issues we had at OT last year

but this offence is mostly good to go - just looking at more tackle depth or a potential starter and maybe some depth at RB or TE too

this defence is generally somewhat talent poor - obviously it would be ideal to add a pass rusher or an interior DL to this team of high quality - but honestly any sort of high level talent is going to improve this defence significantly

i get that adding a tackle or an edge would be great but i just think any playmaker anywhere on defence would be a big deal - remember we've got 9 picks that are likely all going to be in the top 80 of the ravens board and ill be surprised if 2 of the first 4 picks arent spent on the trenches especially looking at the strength of this draft class - just dont think it has to be the 1st round if there's a major talent there at another position

EDC has already said they're probably looking to add 2 OL at least this offseason - didnt say what calibre or how - i imagine they may look to free agency for a veteran C to compete with Colon and they'll take a tackle somewhere in the draft (if it's early then great, if not then that's fine too with stanley, james and mekari already signed)

Yeah you're not wrong that there were a total lack of play makers on Defense last year. Also agreed about the offense being mostly good to go. I just hope we are aggressive and use our picks to get our guys. The guys we really think are gonna hit. The top of this draft has to produce early for us to be successful

that's what makes this edge class a little difficult to stack - the initial returns on some of them might be uninspiring as pass rushers early on or they might struggle to get on the field on early downs or the ceiling might not be so high

and that's why if stingley or sauce or hamilton or one of the tackles are there i wouldnt be surprised if we didnt go edge in R1 even though that's the position with the most 1st round talent

it's also seemingly a pretty deep EDGE class - there'll be guys around in R2 and R3 who can also contribute in year 1... someone like boye mafe or arnold ebikitie (although he might go R1)... or maybe someone like Leal if he goes where i think he should go (rather than where he's currently being mocked by some) - and i havent graded them yet but ive had some pretty good impressions from a bunch of other EDGE guys who might go 3rd round or later - was listening to Dane Brugler today and he talked about having 17 EDGE guys in his top 100 and that seems pretty reasonable with the grading and impressions ive got so far - ive got 6 in the top 25

Thanks for this. It's gonna be really interesting. Also EDC could be lying but it seems like a trade up is also out of the question

i would be stunned if we traded up - there's just no one really of that chase young, nick bosa, quinnen williams, myles garrett, ed oliver, jamarr chase, kyle pitts type in this class... and it would have to be that kind of guy for EDC to justify it

kyle hamilton is probably the closest to that ilk but safety is a devalued position - as much as i like him im not sure i could give up picks to go get him

Yeah that makes sense. I hope we trade up from our mid rounds to get more 2nd and 3rd round picks
