The 2022 Offseason Thread

If the cap wasn't real, Amari Cooper, Tyreke Hill, and Davante Adams never get traded.

It's the only rebuttal anybody ever needs against somebody who says the cap isn't real. Just because the Rams manage to sign a bunch of high end players every year doesn't mean every team can.

And ironically they can do that because they frequently don’t overpay their own guys just to keep them - and use the comp pick system to their advantage

I think Cleveland is gonna take a WR right in front of us to give Watson Amari, a top end young guy and DPJ.

@Simba

interesting but not unsurprising small note from harbs presser today but malik harrison is going to be on the depth chart still as a mike but with Tyus's injury, he expects that Malik and Daelin Hayes will be taking most of the offseason reps at SAM

@UPennChem - would suggest that they are expecting daelin to be ready to go for the offseason program - big big opportunity for daelin

Not surprising to me in the least. Think there's still an avenue for him at ILB but he's really just turning into Albert McClellan 2.0

Kerry Dixon joins Baltimore's staff after 15 seasons as a collegiate assistant, most recently (2019-21) serving as wide receivers coach at Georgia Tech, where he was instrumental in the Yellow Jackets' transition from an option-based offensive scheme to a pro-style spread attack.

The bolded part of this sentence is very interesting. Very interesting.

Nice. He also has experience as an offensive coordinator, albeit only for a year. Either way, I love that bolded part

Greg Roman out of spite is going to sabotage this by calling run plays on all four downs lol. The fact Kerry has offensive coordinator experience is good. Hopefully this means if Roman's offense keeps holding Lamar back like Cam Cameron did to Joe, Roman is finally gone at some point this season.

Would we really take Hamilton if he's the only one who slides? You'd still have 2 holes at CB following that pick and I just don't see Hamilton uprooting Chuck. Idk maybe I'm wrong

Would be fascinating. I ultimately don't think he slides, but if he does, it'll really just depend on who's on the board.

I already suspect you're going to see a lot more 3-safety looks from this team anyway, especially as teams shift more towards not giving up big plays (which was a huge problem for this defense last year). We obviously are very light on Corners at the moment, but you could theoretically play Hamilton and Williams at traditional Safety roles, and move Clark down more into the box, especially on passing downs. I'd say he'd be better in coverage than any linebacker we could stick out there at the moment, and I think you could move him around a bit.

Same could be said for Stephens.

I think that makes sense. I really do think Chuck is better at the LOS and could play some LB

I could really see the team that passed on Derwin James to trade back for Hayden Hurst also pass on Hamilton.
Well if they did opt to pass on Hamilton, it would logically be because a starting, heavy snap role on this defense doesn't seem to be available to him at the moment.

I'd still take him and make it work, but we did just make a gigantic investment in a Safety already.

It would also be possible that a pass rusher or corner that we have rated highly is also available, in which case Hamilton may not be #1 on our board at that spot anyway.

It's actually kind of embarrassing the other teams in the division couldn't really do better than us given this plot. That's a ridiculous placement. It puts into perspective JUST how freakish this season was.
