im sure the GMs would love it...
but what incentives do the players have - half of them will be out of contract and therefore won't want to risk injury, another bunch of them will be on long-term deals and won't want to risk injury, if your team was bad enough to be in that position in the first place it may well be likely that you've already had your coach fired or is literally the walking dead at this point

and contractually those players would be getting the "extra game" rates too - which for most of them will be less than their normal per-game salary too

in theory it's a fun idea - but no way the NFLPA would ever do it unless there were significant financial implications

Obviously it's going to be a bit before we know whether tanking worked for the Dolphins, obviously the success of Herbert and the constant noise of getting rid of Tua doesn't help. I know it's not the NBA where tanking can get you a player who can turn your whole Franchise around instantly but seems like in the NFL it wouldn't be a bad idea to lose late in the year for a higher draft pick. The Eagles did that and turned the 6th Pick into a boatload of picks.

if half the team wasnt injured to finish the year id happily be going into the film to try and get some ideas about what we might see next year from some of these young guys but on offence it hardly matters with no Lamar lol and the defence had barely anyone left to finish the season lol

cant even try and get ahead of the LG battle in camp because powers played most of the season and i feel like he's got a 50-50 chance to either be the starter or not be on the roster and there's no middle ground, tyre played half a game at guard and cleveland was not good and didnt play much

maybe i watch more film on the draft picks lol... maybe check in and see if i can find more pepe film or grind some more ojabo

i think that's far more likely - but i also think the NFL doesnt really care about tanking - mostly because the players arent tanking ever because it hurts their future to do so - and in almost every case the coaches are fighting for their lives too

and as we've seen, often teams that look like they're tanking don't actually "win" the tank anyway lol - scam for sam and tank for tua interestingly both ended up with the same players they were most likely to be tanking for before the season started but both missed out on the 1st overall pick and better options when the time came to actually draft

we're talking about this as if tanking is an actual issue and i really dont think it is

NBA lottery is fixed @gtalk12. It's bullshit the Knicks haven't had a #1 since Ewing yet these pieces of shit in Philly have been able to waste top picks for years to come away with Harden and Embiid...

Agree. There's not much in tanking in the NFL. How often does the tanking staff usually even get to work with said pick? Too much at stake and too many players would have to risk that season and future money. What a true "tank" in the NFL should look like if you actually want to be successful would probably be similar to what Miami did with Flores first year and Pete did with the Seahawks in 2010. You strip the roster and build with your type of players.
