2018 Forum Mock: Discussion Thread

I feel objectively awful about your situation. What ended up happening was the following. With multiple players, there were two or more bids that were invalid via violations of different rules. In all but one case, the final winning bid was invalid because of the freeze out, but the previous one made by you was invalid because of the deletion penalty. Here's where the ball was inadvertantly dropped, what we didn't even consider until these situations occurred. We built our rules about deleting back on BR, where we couldn't the content of the deleted bids. We had several situations wherein members purposefully deleted bids in order to avoid payment, so we installed a brief timeout so that there was a punishment for the former but also so that it doesn't automatically destroy teams when done by accident. In this instance, a mere warning was definitely the preferred option. But since we had to technically invalidate the bids that followed yours, it would've felt wrong not to invalidate all of the bids that were against the rules. And now that we can see the content of the deleted bids, it's an outdated rule that can, and now has, punished someone for an honest mistake. Please accept our apology on this one.
Have you thought about doing PR for Harvey Weinstein?

That Ramik Wilson made my heart jump.

I was just trying to get some sort of depth at that point lol. Did not expect to be outbid on McClellan so tried to find the best player I could as quickly as I could, but hey, you win some and you lose some. I only had about 5 guys in this group that I was willing to spend 1 star or more on and I had no problems sticking to that.

I pretty much know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyways...

Are we still avoiding ending FA periods on Friday and Saturday nights?

Oh really don’t worry about it lol and there’s nothing to apologise for - I read the rules same as anyone - I didn’t even realise I’d done the delete either so there’s absolutely no harm or foul or anything and I completely understand why it’s there - I’m not the first person this has affected and it hurts no one really at all - all that happened was a couple guys got players for a couple of stars less than otherwise and I won’t begrudge them that

Cool. Just wanted to make sure as I will be nowhere near this place tomorrow night.

Yeah I’m gonna be awol and smashed for most of that free agency period and certainly for the end of it

Does this mean the free agency period won’t start til Saturday or will it be 2 days long starting tomorrow?

Lol yea I’m busy every day at 4 my time (7 est) so I don’t have a chance at signing any free agent. Can I just place 40 stars on Andrew norwell and be into the draft :(

Just put your max bid in early and hope no one out bids you on the guys you want. You dont have to win all your bids in the last 5 minutes

Sorry but I have applied the franchise tag on him. But I'm always open to trade him but he won't come cheap

I'm generally in the same boat since I'm working at those times (been able to this week due to being stuck at home with the snow). I know I gave them some shit for it with my ranting before, but they're really trying to make FA better for people like us who can't generally make it for that part of things.

The 12 hour bid-off period instead of 15 minutes really does help a lot.

This should be the key. It doesn't work great when you're bargain hunting with little cap space, but if have a lot of cap space and come out aggressive, people usually stay away. Don't screw around with bids that obviously aren't going to win.

I dunno. I was able to grab Geno Smith bidding .5 stars right off the bat.... Lol...
