Week 1 Discussion (other teams)

Hall of Famer
Bills @ Rams: Many questioned the Rams strategy in trading first round picks for proven players, a strategy that worked to perfection last season as they won the Franchise's second Super Bowl Championship last season. Now they welcome the overall favorite in the AFC to win the Super Bowl, the Buffalo Bills to kick off the 2022 Season. After a offseason that saw the Bills sign Von Miller away from the Rams in Free Agency, the Bills look poised to takeover the AFC. The Rams strength in their passing attack can take advantage of no Tre'Davious White in the Bills' secondary. The addition of Allen Robinson to go along with Cooper Kupp is going to make it a long night for the Bills secondary. Aaron Donald returns with a boatload of new money and once again looks to wreck havoc on offensive lines this coming season. In what could be a Super Bowl Preview, the Bills look to disrupt the Rams Championship Celebration on Thursday Night.

Sunday September 11th
Saints @ Falcons: Sean Payton is off to do TV for FOX so Dennis Allen was promoted from Defensive Coordinator to Head Coach for the 2022 season. The question mark for the Saints is the health of Jameis Winston who led the Saints to a 5-1 record until a ACL injury ended his 2021 season. With the loss of Terron Armstead in Free Agency, and surgery needed for first round draft pick Trevor Penning, Jameis Winston is going to be tested early this season coming off injury. The Falcons ended the Matt Ryan era by trading him to the Indianapolis Colts and look to new starting QB Marcus Mariota. The addition of Drake London in the Draft to go along with last year's first round selection Kyle Pitts will make things a bit easier for Mariota who is starting his first NFL Game in nearly three years. In 2015, Winston was selected by the Bucs and Mariota was selected by the Titans; Now they meet twice a year for NFC South division supremacy in hopes of keeping up with Brady and the Buccaneers.

Browns @ Panthers: Both Franchises come into this game with lots of question marks heading into Sunday. Can Cleveland get by with Jacoby Brissett until Deshaun Watson returns? Will Baker Mayfield return back to the 2020 version of Baker Mayfield who led the Cleveland Browns to their first playoff victory since 1994 and save Matt Rhule's job in Carolina? Lots of fans will have eyes on this game as many are cheering for Baker to get revenge on the Browns for tossing him aside after he played hurt last season. In a NFC that seems generally wide open in the wild card race, Baker Mayfield has a chance to start the season off right and prove the Browns wrong.

49ers @ Bears: The 49ers made some noise ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft when they traded up to the number three selection and took Trey Lance over Justin Fields and Mac Jones. The Chicago Bears moved up to the 11th pick and selected Justin Fields as they moved on from Mitch Trubisky. Now these two quarterbacks meet for the first time on Sunday as the 49ers head to Chicago to face the Bears. Is Justin Fields ready to take the next step and lead the Bears to victory? Trey Lance hasn't played a full season of football since 2019 and looks to quiet the doubters who seemingly will be calling for Jimmy G to start if Trey slips and the team isn't winning games.

Steelers @ Bengals: Big Ben is gone and in is Mitch Trubisky who was named the starting quarterback over first round selection Kenny Pickett. The biggest question mark for Pittsburgh remains its offensive line which will be tested early against a Bengals pass rush that had 21.5 sacks last season. As always, expect the Steelers defense to be their strong suit this season and look for TJ Watt to put pressure on the Bengals new offensive line who may give Joe Burrow the extra second he needed in the Super Bowl to make the game winning Touchdown. Will Najee Harris find some holes in a Bengals run defense that was one of the best in 2021? This game is going to say a lot about Pittsburgh this season and how soon we may see Kenny Pickett under center for the Steelers.

Eagles @ Lions: The Detroit Lions showed a lot of grit and toughness playing every single team down to the wire, except for the Eagles who beat them 44-6 last season. Dan Campbell is steering the team in the right direction but the question does remain at Quarterback with Jared Goff, acquired in the Matthew Stafford trade. Perhaps the growth of second year receiver Armon-Ra St. Brown, the addition of DJ Chark in free agency along with first round selection Jameson Williams in the Draft, will see Jared Goff throw for more than 19 touchdowns this season. In Philadelphia, questions whether Jalen Hurts is the guy long term need to be answered this season. The acquisition of AJ Brown during the Draft shows Philadelphia wants to surround Hurts with the best players possible. It's crucial for Philadelphia to find a balance between the passing attack and rushing attack as they were one of the better rushing teams last season.

Patriots @ Dolphins: The Miami Dolphins are favored to win against the Patriots for the first time since 2013 and find themselves in the same position as the Philadelphia Eagles. It's all about finding out whether they have their guy at Quarterback, and if you ask newly acquired Tyreek Hill, Tua is better than Mahomes which would sound as if Tua is the guy long term. Miami fired Brian Flores and brought in new Head Coach Mike McDaniel from San Francisco. Is Miami ready to take that next step and potentially lay the ground work for a tank job happening in Seattle? As for New England, they know Mac Jones is the guy at the moment but their offense did not show much promise this preseason. Playing against the Raiders' backups, New England's offense struggled and that can not be a good sign heading into Sunday. After such a promising rookie campaign by Mac Jones last season, it seems too many cooks in the kitchen offensively between Matt Patricia and Joe Judge may hinder Jones' development in his sophomore campaign.

Jaguars @ Commanders: Doug Pederson returns to the sidelines as the new Head Coach in Jacksonville as he looks to steer Trevor Lawrence's career back on track after a terrible rookie year with Urban Meyer. Meanwhile Carson Wentz is on his third team in as many years after ironically losing to the Jaguars in the final week of the season last year as a Indianapolis Colt. After a offseason full of controversy from owner Dan Snyder, the Commanders look to put that behind them with a win on Sunday.

4:25PM Games
Giants @ Titans: The G-Men are looking to follow in the footsteps of the Buffalo Bills and their success after hiring General Manager Joe Schoen and Head Coach Brian Daboll away from the Buffalo Bills. The Tennessee Titans looked to be in the hunt for a new Quarterback but chose to stick with Ryan Tannehill, while drafting Malik Willis who performed well during the preseason. Unfortunately for the Giants, the first game includes stopping Derrick Henry, something new defensive Coordinator Don Martindale knows is a tough task to do. Without rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari on Sunday, that task of stopping Henry becomes worrisome for the G-Men. The Titans receiving core was rebuilt in the offseason as AJ Brown was traded to Philadelphia, Robert Woods signed as a free agent as did TE Austin Hooper and incoming rookie receiver Treylon Burks. Can Tannehill put last season behind him and keep the rookie Willis on the bench or will struggles to connect with his new receiving core lead to a change at Quarterback before the season is out?

Chiefs @ Cardinals:
Raiders @ Chargers:
Packers @ Vikings:

Sunday Night Football
Buccaneers @ Cowboys: Tom Brady postponed his retirement after realizing he'd have to spend more time with his family without football in his life. He went missing for eleven days during training camp, perhaps learning how to dance, maybe he had second thoughts about coming back after the Bucs lost multiple key offensive lineman due to injury. Dallas looks to lean on it's two bright stars on defense to slow down Brady and company, Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs who did have an interception against Brady last season. Parsons shined playing all over on the Dallas defense last season and looks to do so again this year. There is no Amari Cooper for Dak Prescott so that means CeeDee Lamb will be taking over as the primary receiver on offense. Can Dallas knock off the Bucs and end Tom Brady's perfect 6-0 record against the Cowboys?

Monday Night Football
Broncos @ Seahawks: If what Miami did in 2019 was considered tanking, then you must consider what the 2022 Seattle Seahawks are doing as tanking. After a decade together, the Seahawks parted ways with Russell Wilson and now turn the keys to the car over to... Geno Smith? Moving on from long time defensive leader Bobby Wagner only magnified that this is a rebuild in Seattle, while the Denver Broncos acquired Russell Wilson from Seattle in hopes that he is their missing piece in winning another Super Bowl. The Broncos seemingly had everything else in place talent wise, now they got their Quarterback locked into a new contract and are ready to knock off the Chiefs and Chargers in a crazy AFC West.

If Rams win tonight, every team in the AFC will rejoice as it puts the Bills down one loss to start the season. Hopefully Donald makes life hell for Allen like he did for Burrow in the Super Bowl.

OBJ on the Rams sideline... obviously not signed and still a free agent. Interesting development.

It makes no sense to me how media questions Lamar’s “sustainability” when he juke and avoid tackles, yet admires Josh Allen’s runs style. He runs like Cam. Just trucks tacklers. If anyone’s gonna break down, it’s more likely to be him.
