The DL, The Lamar and Another Blown Lead

To not beat the dead horses that have already been beaten-

Many Ravens fans were happy with the wide receiver group going into the season and insisted that Hollywood Brown wouldn't be a big miss.

Along with pass rusher, this was a big miss in roster construction by Decosta.

Losing Hollywood was never a good thing but I'm just not sure how Hollywood Brown would helped Lamar Jackson passes be on point in these past two games

Also, I think the NFL just might be too much for Mike Macdonald

- Send Mike Macdonald back to Michigan. Once again his defense fails to hold a lead, also couldn't stop Daniel Jones in the air, made him look like Josh Allen when he's a not that good of a quarterback.

- Lamar's hero ball is costing us big time. He needs to stop overthrowing easy TDs, he is too wound up. He needs to calm down. He needs to learn how to throw it away. It's hard to justify giving him a big QB contract at this point. Not extending Lamar may very well actually be the best thing we did this off-season.

- Ref ball once again playing a huge part, no DPI all game but a very questionable ticky tack DPI on an interception that would have won us the game? Sorry but you know there is some fixing of games going on when no calls happen all day and the team they want to win gets a questionable flag to help them win.

- Everything goes back to coaching...... Harbaugh might want to consider his seat warm. Lamar saved him from being fired in 2018 but Lamar may be the reason he is fired in 2022. We constantly make the same mistakes over and over, undisciplined. Once again, goes back to coaching. Perhaps we got rid of the wrong coordinator, should have let Roman go and kept Wink.

I was actually quite stunned that we didn’t get someone better than Robinson, and everyone and their mom knew that if Bate goes down, the consequences would be dire, as evidenced by the last couple of games. Just no real depth behind Duv, and Proche just completely vanished into thin air. Not absolving Lamar from his poor play at all, but he’s pretty much fucked when Mark is bracketed because no one else is consistently getting open
I actually was stunned at how many people had unwavering faith in Bateman just seamlessly stepping in and how many people somehow thought Proche would be starter worthy.

Neither had shown enough for that level of faith.

he doesnt give me confidence

like i think it's clear that he's clever and has good ideas - but idk if he's made a call in the 4th quarter of a game right now that i would think of as being a great call

must also be said that partly that's down to philosophically being less of a blitz/pressure defence but in key situations you have to find ways to assert yourself as a defence whatever that is

I think Hollywood's speed opens a lot up for the offense in terms of spacing, but he's also just flat out fast. I don't think Lamar overthrows him as consistently as he is other receivers.

id seen enough from bateman to make that assessment

Lamar is a fantastic Qb with a skill set unmatched in the league, but something is off. My only guess is the pressure of playing perfect to earn this fully guaranteed BS and reset the way the NFL does contracts.

I’m not ready to give up on him yet but this defense has been a massive disappointment.

it's cool that we're clearly improving weekly and maybe at the end of the year these first 6 games will just be a distant nightmare
also testament to him (and the players) that we didnt obviously feel the loss of Marcus Williams that much

but...

I didn't think today would go this way. The giants have a record that doesn't tell the whole story and it makes this loss even worse.

As much as I want to crucify Lamar (he deserves a lot of criticism) look at what we went out there with and how we played. Duvernay was the only NFL caliber WR. The offensive line had what 5 or 6 penalties? Morgan Moses gets hurt. Robinson drops passes. Andrews with a critical dropped pass despite playing an amazing game. Like wtf. The offense moved on the Giants all damn day but simply played like such utter shit in the redzone, was so undisciplined, it didn't lead to anything meaningful on the scoreboard. Then when it mattered at the end Lamar just fell apart in a way I've never seen. Dropping the snap, throwing a garbage interception, fumbling and not recovering it twice. Trash. The whole offense was embarrassing to watch.

The defense is just bad. I've been saying since before week 1 that this team is fundamentally flawed. The way it was constructed was with beyond zero depth at WR and EDGE and almost no talent of any kind at ILB. This whole build from back to front is not conventional. We again got no pressure on Jones. Despite completely keeping Barkley in check we let Jones a garbage QB throw to 3rd, 4th,and 5th string WRs for long 3rd downs all day. What's this elite secondary for a bad QB with bad WRs routinely make big plays.

This team is lucky its in a bad division this year.

Going into the contract year, he probably wanna prove he a passer that deserves the contract. Only thing is, thats not really his game.. and this team isn’t equipped to help him out in that. Not when you bring out Robinson, Proche and Wallace.
