The DL, The Lamar and Another Blown Lead

I was actually quite stunned that we didn’t get someone better than Robinson, and everyone and their mom knew that if Bate goes down, the consequences would be dire, as evidenced by the last couple of games. Just no real depth behind Duv, and Proche just completely vanished into thin air. Not absolving Lamar from his poor play at all, but he’s pretty much fucked when Mark is bracketed because no one else is consistently getting open
Dude you know what makes this even worse? They've given Proche no snaps how whole career up until this point. Then Bateman goes down and he doesn't even get a snap increase. You know what that means? They think he's trash and we're never going to play him. You know what's crazier? It's the same situation for Wallace!!!!

That means they knew all along they've never really had any intention of playing those 2. That means they thought preseason oh we'll just role with Bateman and Duv, if someone gets cut will probably bring them in. And that guy was garbage DRob which every Raiders and chiefs fan cloned us for. That's truly inexcusable and indefensible.

How much of that is because Andrews is already that guy?
Could be.

I'm just disappointed because people hated the boom or bust play style that Hollywood seemed to encapsulate and seemed to value Bateman as this sure handed chain mover and so far, he's been boom or bust and given only really explosive plays.

I actually was stunned at how many people had unwavering faith in Bateman just seamlessly stepping in and how many people somehow thought Proche would be starter worthy.

Neither had shown enough for that level of faith.
I think it was less about actually believing and more about hoping given that's what the FO did ya know? Definitely true neither had actually demonstrated in the NFL that they were going to be a real WR1 and WR2. The worst part is the Ravens KNEW Proche wasn't worth giving snaps

Maybe spend this week practicing lining up and understanding the snap count could be a good idea. That is probably the easiest fix that would have avoided a loss today

Turned into the fucking east coast chargers or purple Falcons.
Look at the bright side. At least we'll win out now!

I think Hollywood's speed opens a lot up for the offense in terms of spacing, but he's also just flat out fast. I don't think Lamar overthrows him as consistently as he is other receivers.
Him and Brown are buddies so their chemistry going be there but after hearing how Lamar was working so hard on his throwing mechanics this offseason I kind of expected him to make some of these throws that he's been missing . I'm not saying the wide receiver group right now is great but neither was Daniel Jones wide receivers but he was consistently making good throws. He didn't leave his wide receivers hanging with overthrown passes as much as Lamar did .

that's what gets me too

i got lulled into the WR group hype but... they've got no excuses and by their usage it's clear that proche and wallace were never gonna factor which means it's not that these guys flopped when they were expecting big things

these guys are clearly what they expected and they did nothing about it

i get that we got sniped in the draft - but it's been nearly 6 months since the draft and we've only added demarcus robinson

With the OLBs, I could understand the approach a little of wait it out for guys to come back from injury. I think that was overly optimistic and the wrong approach, but I can semi see the reasoning.

With the receivers, though? What's the plan if Bateman isn't THAT guy? What's the plan if any of them go down? Where's the contingency? There are no reinforcements coming.

And it seems like the Ravens knew they needed a receiver considering they apparently tried to get one in the first round. But to make zero aggressive moves to get someone other than Robinson? That's a failure.

I won't excuse Lamar of poor throws or poor decisions, but the Ravens very clearly lack a receiver who can make that big play or take over a game.
