Yea i didnt even notice, my badAh, got you. Pardon me. Was confused by the "is a rookie" segment and figured you were referencing a current rookie.

I don't care what he was ranked at tackle since he was never going to play there and I don't care what PFF ranked him at G because he missed Stanley for four games and he had his struggles in the ZBS.Lewis per PFF was ranked 137th out of 150th per pff at tackle giving up 4 QB hits and 17 pressures in 150 snaps. He was hornedous
Granted he was better at guard. But he still gave up one sack, 4 QB hits, and 3 pressures in 185 snaps. So he was 61/153 of all guards. So even then, he wasn't that great at all. When he was at his best, he was solid. Sure, in theory he'd have more upside in a power man, but again it's a gamble and not a great one. His output wasn't really that great. We should've and could've invested more. Sure, we drafted Siragusa, but even then a mid round rookie isn't going to solve our problems.

I don't particularly prefer PFF for their rankings; just their stats. It's nothing against you, but NFL lineman apparently loathe the rankings and the way that PFF grades the stats because they are a few guys from the UK who have never played American football and have no idea what's even happening in the trenches as far as assignments.
That's why I prefer to fall back on what The Raven says. He's played it and was a college player on offense, so he knows about blocking schemes.

I really liked what Bleacher Report did last year when they did their NFL1000 site. They had like 10 people working on it as lead writers and then several people helping each writer and it took them at least a few days to get their rankings done and compiled into a massive list. I'm upset they aren't doing it this year, too.I like PFF for some of their rankings, in some aspects it can give you an idea of how a player is doing but in other aspects it just flat out gets it wrong. For example, if they got a guy in Austin Howard who they have as the 6th best RT, then yeah, I can legit say that he's playing well for us. However, that's really where PFF use ends for me.
I remember when they gave bad grades to Philip Rivers and Aaron Rodgers after they had a 4 TD game...It really led me to question how they do things.
But one thing that I've noticed about PFF that really alarms me is that they seem to put out their grades fast. That's kind of a red flag for me, how can you evaluate every player on the team in literally an hour? That's really bold.
I don't have anything against PFF, but I honestly prefer other sites and even FilmStudy.

I don't like the grades because some things are flat out too subjective. They can't definitively say who was at fault in coverage, who was supposed to block who on the offensive line, who was at fault if a quarterback flat out misses the wide receiver, etc. What if a corner is playing in trail technique? It might look like the receiver has his man beat, until the ball is thrown, but if the ball is never thrown, it just looks like the corner got beat.
I noticed quite a bit of discrepancy in their rankings. Those BR rankings are heavily influenced by PFF, like borderline plagiarism.
Maybe we should target two high rated but older guys like Richie Incognito, not necessarily Richie I mean but someone who isnt completely trashheap like most of our line.

The rest of the sentiment aside, the numbers he gave were the stats and not the grades. Those were his rankings in the disruptions allowed per snap.I don't care what he was ranked at tackle since he was never going to play there and I don't care what PFF ranked him at G because he missed Stanley for four games and he had his struggles in the ZBS.

And that my friend is why Ozzie is one of the top GMs in football and you are writing a post on these boards. lolHmmm.. Yeah I'd pay him that much. Given the increasing importance of having a good RT in today's NFL given the emergence of JJ Watt, Von Miller, Mack, who all line up on the right side.. Yeah. Not a bad deal. He's clearly an above average RT. Not to mention it's clearly a passing league and he's great at that, and Wagner has done well as a run blocker so far in Detriot per PFF. Sure, the Lions saw that as an overpay but given that he's an above average player at the position, and that right tackles have become far more important than they were in the past, and the fact that he's in his physical prime? Then yes. I would have paid him. RTs that can keep the QB upright are not a cheap commodity.
Williams on the other hand is still heavily rotated out on passing downs and sure he's made some strides, but he's not very good in that facet.
I'll the RT who doesn't have to rotate out of the game on third down over the one dimensional NT. Every day of the week. Wagner was a top ten RT in the NFL during his tenure here. I get why got he got paid that much. Stop underrating the RT position.
i would sign incognito and john greco because there will be more injuries. the bad part is contract will once again be restructured which will kill us soon enoughI dunno man, I get the impression they want to stick with bergstrom..
A realistic and best option is incognito.
I don't think the yanda injury ends our season the only injuries I think end our season is CJ Mosley or Joe Flacco or Jimmy that's it
People seem to forget that we won the Super Bowl with Bryant McKinnie and Michael Oher starting at LT & RT. Yanda, KO, and Birk were our guys there but we were not an elite group by any stretch. I understand that it's a different unit but what really propelled it was cohesion.
One thing I've noticed about this OL is they're surprisingly on page. The chemistry has been very solid throughout. Stanley hasn't even played up to his full potential and once he does, I don't think this OL will legitimately be a bad unit. I thought Bergstrom was decent filling in for Yanda FWIW. I don't think this unit is going to be great at all, but I don't anticipate it being bad either. At least we got two tackles who can seal up the edge along side a center who can handle blockers.
Losing Yanda really does suck though, but it's not going to end our season.

It is insane how many players have been injured that were supposed to take big roles on that O-line this season and it isn't even week 3 yet. Lewis and Yanda both big blows.Losing Stanley would end the season too imo. But I definitely agree. Losing the best player on offense sucks- especially when all that's left is Bergstrom, Eluemunor and Bowanko. Maybe we'll see Greco signed but we're probably more likely to just see Skura called up.
I think that the FO actually did a solid job building up the OL the past couple seasons, but losing Lewis, Urschel and Siragusa before the season even started was a huge loss that no team really could have been prepared for. Things are definitely bad when the top 4 guards are all on IR or Retired, but Hurst has really come up big being serviceable and hopefully someone else can at least be decent.
Add a shout out to our OL coach, Joe D'AlessandrisI just wanted to take a moment and give Hurst a big shout out.
You have played fairly decent and haven't gotten Flacco killed and I think i can speak for us all when I say we are glad you are here and are healthy.
Oh yea, almost forgot, I'm sorry I called you James Worst.
As I have stated before and I'll say it again PFF is nothing but a great big old joke. They don't have a clue what's going on.I like PFF for some of their rankings, in some aspects it can give you an idea of how a player is doing but in other aspects it just flat out gets it wrong.
