The Running Game, The 4th Quarter and Everyone's Blood Pressure

Outside of the Hill fumble what execution errors did you see today? To me its what you said about the fact that they dropped a lot and still got pressure. That coupled to being weak at WR means it was hard to pass. To me, if we are going to consistently run heavy sets, there is so much tape that shows how to defend our offense, so I dont expect the offense to get a whole lot better. The only way would come from finding a better receiving option and/or finding a way to change up the packages and get quick timing routes to get Lamar in rhythm and make the defenses respect us. Also have to find some way to get the verticality back into our playcalling its been nonexistent lately.

the tipped screen to drake when he would have walked in
the mekari trip that tripped lamar
the hill fumble
the oliver drop (albeit we still scored the TD that drive anyway so that one's moot)

a bunch of other plays (e.g. the bateman drop, Moses in pass pro, Lamar missing an open Andrews - albeit that was the shit playcall etc.) but these ones were ones that directly impacted the score in a real way

Once again burrow threw his 8 yard comeback to chase and chase outran 7 players for a 60 yard TD. Who can do that for us? Bateman can, we need him to step up

Glad to get the W but it comes with more frustration because you see how good this team can be, but they can't get out of their own way

QB - Lamar was alright today. Don't think he did anything truly spectacular but he was far from the guy we've seen the last 2 weeks that has been causing some of our issues

RB - Gus looked good for day 1 back. Hill is still showing some juice. Not much out of Drake today.

WR - Just ugly. I was against the DeSean signing but just put him out there and hope he opens up the middle because the no one else is getting it done. Bateman needs to pick it up. Duvernay is doing alright. Robinson is garbage. Proche is gonna find himself looking for a job if his only notable contribute is a 15 yard flag.

TE - Not too much to write home about here. Glad Likely finally got involved a bit but just a quiet day from this group.

OL - Not a great showing. Feel like Lamar held the ball too long at times but they also didn't help. Pressure upon pressure and when you have the garbage WR room we do, it means bad things.

DL - Again, nothing notable. Thought they held decently well until the end.

OLB - Got a little bit of juice today. Houston was very active. Oweh had an okay game. JPP is a hustler.

ILB - Queen had some shining moments today and really highlights why he's so frustrating, because this dude all the time would be a star.

CB - Held well for most of the game but still a little leaky. Looks like Pepe has a good grasp on CB3 right now.

S - An ugly day from Stone and Clark. Felt like they were late to their positions multiple times and it made the CBs look worse than they were.

Harbs specifically mentioned MM "calling a hell of a game and is a big part of why we won". Idk that just hurts to hear.

he called a great 2 and a half quarters of a game

the opening 2 browns drives and the 4th quarter drive were odd on a strategic level - but he got aggressive and forced the issue and created all sorts of problems for the browns with extra rushers (more than i think ive seen him use ever so far in his career)

Harbs will always defend his coaches in public. Just think back to the Pees era. Even when Pees and Harbs parted ways he let him retire (wink wink) instead of firing his sorry azz.

Doesn’t feel like it huh lol.. I’m just sick of seeing the same shit every week
No one should be surprised, to be honest! They've played this same way for the past month and a half. Why would or should we expect anything different from this team from week to week? I don't even get excited about game days anymore. I just watch it! Sure, I am always happy for the Ravens to get a "W," always but I recognize that you can't get blood out of a turnip! They are what they are. Nothing more and nothing less!

I don't know that I see "how good this team can be" from week to week but I definitely see that they can't get out of their own way. That's for sure! When I watch the Ravens I always see this:

Look we have one of the most electrifying athletes in the NFL and we have one of the most boring ass offenses in the league. You can tell by Lamar's demeanor he is just not happy. Hensley asked why was there no rhythm in his passing game and he answered because there were only 16 attempts.

Having a few spurts of a good offense and then completely faltering is not going to take this team far. Our redzone offense is trash. I wonder what are the stats of redzone trips to points by fg or Td.

We blame Roman and some of yall say the issue is not Roman. We blame Lamar and no you can't do that.... it's not Lamar. We blame the Wrs nah it's not them give the young guys a chance....

Can we agree It's a combination of all three. Roman's previous experience shows us that he has never been able to establish a great passing offense with the previous teams and that has not changed. Like Raine mentioned I dont think he's utilizing the roster we have to our strengths.

Hell, it's all of the above!

Outside of the first couple drives the defense did pretty well and they actually got pressure. If Marcus Williams was healthy we could possibly kept them from making any kind of cone back. So this time around he called a pretty solid game.

I've been saying the same thing to other people outside of PF.com for a few weeks now.

Regardless of how nice and respectful Lamar is, he is human! And for him to hear about how Bisciotti and EDC and the Coach etc, love him in public but to hear something different in private (during the negotiations of his contract) I believe has affected him in some manner. I believe Lamar is not playing as aggressively as he used to when he first came into the league because back then, he saw the game as fun. He was having fun! Now, after these negotiations, he realizes that it is actually a business! And the business side of this game can be ruthless and cutthroat and make you reevaluate some things.

What was said about him?

Bingo. I’ve actually defended Roman for parts of the year but his offense has been stale for some time. It wasn’t built for Lamar, it puts Lamar in a box and allows little to no room for growth and creativity.

Lamar has been average . No way around it. We won’t go far with him playing this way.

The WR situation is tough. At some point you have to trust the process and believe in the guys you drafted. Unfortunately we’ve are just not good at finding value at WR in the draft. Bateman will be fine , but he and Andrews can’t do it all.

To your last point you'd think having Bateman, Andrew, and Duv we would have had better production this week and that wasn't the case. If it happens again against Tampa then yeah it's bigger then we can imagine. I know they were trying to establish the run game, but why can't we just be balanced? I asked do we try slants/quick passes often? Lamar was getting pressured a lot today so why would we not try to get the ball out of his hands quicker? Idk I'm not too smart when it comes to offense verbiage I'll leave it to yall.

It's a pretty sad state of affairs when we say Lamar was OK today because he didn't make any glaring mistakes. We are talking about one in a million talent that we somehow stopped using to open the defenses and instead we force him to find a pass to somebody but nobody ever gets open. We never seem to get into the rhythm, we insist on 25 second snaps, we don't put our hot hand rusher in backfield when the game is being decided..... And that's not one or two games. That's our season so far.

And that's all on Roman, @rossihunter2 .
