Lamar Jackson

I really hope the defense pulls it together because I truly believe Lamar can do some damage in the playoffs.

I think Lamar had the unfortunate pressure of being THE GUY in the playoffs in his first few years where he basically had to carry the team and had to play mistake free ball or the team would falter. I don't think we'd be having these conversations if he had a team similar to the 2011 Ravens.

However, I really do think he's looked more up to the challenge in these past two years (first half of 2021, so far in 2022.) Let's just hope the team doesn't totally die before the playoffs (knock on wood.)

Titans game in 2020 (also on my birthday). To @BoredMarine13 's point, ESPN was talking about big games in general. Of course he has won big games so I don't even know why it was a topic of discussion by them..

he's won big games
he's also made huge clutch comebacks

it just so happens that in 3 of the 4 playoff games we've played, the whole team has not played well enough

the narrative completely hinges on the expectations of that 2019 season
no one had any issues with lamar losing a playoff game with that team in that situation in 2018 (and he still nearly pulled a rabbit out of the hat at the end after imploding through the first 3 quarters)
2020 we had a team that fell apart and exacted revenge for 2019 and then in a terrible weather game, had a 3 play sequence that ended our season (jk missing the block on what would have been a walk in TD for hollywood, the pick 6, the bad snap lamar concussion)

we were underdogs in 3 of those 4 playoff games

It's crazy to me how the expectations here for some are so high when they weren't for the last guy who was basically carried until his 3rd year in the playoffs and was a factor in choking away a 3 score lead.

Flacco won many playoff games in his first few years and eventually a Super Bowl. Next.

4-10 36 yards and an int is really contributing to a win. This was in a blowout by the way. Next

What did Flacco do when he was asked to do more for the team? We made playoffs once when he was finally asked to you know, shoulder the load. I'll always appreciate the SB, but Flacco for the most part was an average qb with great talent around him when he was winning. Lol. We've seen a rookie Lamar improve the talent around him with literally the same team.

We’ve also seen Lamar not be able to rally his team in the playoffs and lose games we should’ve won (see: Titans). Part of being elite is being a great leader

You mean his 2nd season as mvp when no one expected us to be that good? If only he could have relied on his defense and run game like Flacco early he'd probably have a handful of playoff wins as well. Joe ain't rally shit early in his career so don't get it confused. In fact the defense helped build him a 3 score lead his 3rd year in the league and helped us lose that game.

Why rehash this same old shit. Lamar is a great player who might eventually become a post season hero. Flacco’s post season play speaks for itself, did great things and set a bunch of records, not sure why some can’t just celebrate that. Hopefully we have more tournament success in the near future.

Because people have revisionist history and aren't maintaining the same standards.

Exactly this. THIS is what frustrates me so much about the talk surrounding Lamar.

I look at guys like Flacco and Wilson who were carried by their running game and defense and simply allowed to be game managers, simply allowed to grow and acclimate themselves to the pressure.

Lamar? He's had to be THE man from the jump. He didn't have that transitionary period where he could just go 4/10 39 yards, and an interception and still win the game 33-14. Unless someone would like to argue that Flacco played well in that New England game and was a driving force in winning that game.

As a friendly reminder- Joe Flacco averaged 122 yards on 24 pass attempts in his first two years and managed ONE touchdown against SIX interceptions. Despite this, the Ravens won THREE games against the two that they lost.

I do NOT want to hear about Joe's playoff success and hear that Lamar should have the same level of success because what is asked of the two is drastically different. Joe admittedly started to figure it out in 2010 against the Chiefs before finally looking like January Joe in 2011. It took Joe four years to piece it all together. Lamar has NOT had that luxury at all. He has had to have it figured out from day one.

It's really just infuriating to me.

Dude this is such an inspiring post and so on the money. I'm going to invite you home when Lamar is here. Comparing Lamar's situation to Flacco's is just blasphemy. Can you imagine, how many championships we may have had if Ray, Ed, and Suggs were here when he is? We couldn't possibly lose a game.

Lol, we would win every game 50-0
