Unions always want wins vs the owners because the owners are looking to avoid financial liability at every turn and it comes at the workers/players expense.

If not for the PA, the owners would be get able to get away with literally whatever they want and careers would end with injuries and players would be left assed out of their contracts.

There’s always the notion of “you signed a contract, so play it out” but where’s that same standard when the owners wanna cut a player due to injuries? They signed that contract, honor it. The players union is looking out for the guys that we tune in to watch every Sunday, the owners look out for their profit margins.

Well, couple of things here:
1. You really can't cut a player who's injured. You can cut them when they're healthy because of past injuries, but it requires an injury settlement to actually cut an injured player.
2. The notion of "play out the contract" is fair, but the contract literally says that the team doesn't have to keep you for the duration of it. So the Owners ability to cut a player in-contract is actually part of the contract.
3. I agree that the NFLPA is sort of looking out for the players, but I think they're primarily looking out for players financial interests, not for the personal, career, or health interests. The NFLPA is nothing more than a second business looking out for its business (i.e. how much the players make).

Added in here is the fact when a player is injured, can’t come back, or performs poorly when they return and is still getting paid it not only “hurts” the owner but also the entire team.

I'm gonna just abstain from thinking anything. The media has just run away with "sources" giving them reports. It's all for clicks. I have no idea what's going on.

But I think the first big piece of info that will color things is whether we use the exclusive or nonexclusive tag.

I side with the workers against the owners all day but I completely agree.

The union should be making structural changes through collective action rather than using one player as their battering ram.

Still, it seems like Lamar is willing to carry their water and, unfortunately, that puts him on a collision course with Bisciotti, who's happy to carry the owners' water in the fight against guarantees. (I bet you eg. Jerry Jones wouldn't do it, if he had a QB of Lamar's quality)

Biscotti is probably going to kick Lamar to the curb and trade him. Great player but shit happens.
