With DeMaurice Smith stating that Lamar's contract will push the others into the guaranteed realm, I hope it doesn't make Lamar put on the brakes to signing a contract with us until he gets ALL he wants, but it likely will, because I just don't think the Ravens are the team to set the market, especially with guaranteed money. I think they are willing to play him as the Franchised Player, this year, tho. That said, whether Lamar is savvy enough to know that he has to play this season, under the tag AND has to COMPLETE the season healthy. The NFLPA doesn't care either of those things related to Lamar. Because if Lamar doesn't play under the tag or gets injured his value will be diminished and then it's up to Burrow or Hurts to set the market in the NFLPA's mind and so long Lamar.

So for the NFLPA it's next man up for their agenda, but for Lamar, if he gets tagged and doesn't play, play a full season, and - I'd even say - make the Playoffs, he might never get the deal he wants. If he balks at the lack of commitment with the Tag, as he seemingly did with the injury this year, and sits out or goes in the hold-out mode, that hurts his ability to get what he wants and it also hurts our ability to get what we want in picks because we'd be trading a "difficult," unrepresented player. If there's no deal, he has to be ready to play with the tag and put it all on the line.

I would tend to agree. He has to see the depths of shitty teams around the league. If he doesn't and is just out for the dough, then so be it. But he also can't go full NFLA homie and think he can fleece a team that knows for him to be successful they have to have money available to put pieces around him. It can't be solely about him. Yet it seems to be that way... despite tweets like this from his team mates. Of course he wants to be with a successful franchise, I hope. That's competitiveness. Go play a few seasons in Detroit, Oakland, Cleveland, Miami, Washington, Atlanta trying to be competitive and tell us what you think then about the Ravens.

Love the Lions every Thanksgiving... just saying. There are franchises that will pay you what you want, will capitalize on the advertising YOU bring them, the NFLPA will herald you as the bastion of guaranteed contracts but where you'll be playing won't have an Earthly clue about how to build a team to make you the Superman you are. Plain and simple. But you'll be rich... like you wouldn't have been anyway.
 
Don't worry, my fellow Ravens fans, we aren't the ONLY team dealing with wishy-washy news about their franchise QB. First, it was at least $45M. Then, it was fake news. Now, it's MORE than $45M. Waiting for this to be called fake news as well.

Definitely not fake news but I haven’t heard any details around guaranteed money, which is what is making news lately.

I would be fine if we took a chance and overpaid for Lamar. I would be fine if we tagged and traded Lamar. I will not be fine with having Lamar play this season on a tag!

Same. I watched this video like an hour before my bowling league started. I bring that part up because one of my teammates is a long time Commanders fan. I was ready to bring it up to him only to find out that there was an article stating that Schefty did it as a prank.
