Lamar Jackson

just watched the marty presser (i dont often watch pressers during the season) and the way he talks about lamar without really saying anything just made me feel a lot more comfortable with Marty as OC than I felt about him before - we've got a coaching staff that is incredibly studious and knowledgeable and puts the work in with game planning and preparing guys

as always the question mark will be (and has been for marty's whole tenure) the playcalling itself and the inconsistency of it - for someone who plays dumb so much during pressers marty doesnt half try and outsmart himself sometimes and get stuck in his own head
You say that now, but just wait until he starts calling some dumb shit lol. See, if M***y wasn't trying to be too cute with his playcalling at times, I'd tolerate him.

Lol, if you watched Marty's pressers regularly, you'd know he talks about everything without really saying anything. I never miss those, he is hilarious.

except for whitlock - who's stubborn AND wrong
Whitlock doesn’t even sound like he’s being stubborn, and also doesn’t sound like he’s analyzing, he sounds like he’s flat out hating with no train of thought to it, he’s been making strawmans about lamar ever since he was drafted, lots of “what are the ravens gonna do when...” followed by a scenario that hasn’t happened yet. He is fucking praying on lamars downfall

Marty can gameplan, he can go in with a brilliant idea of how to exploit a defense, but he just chokes so badly once his initial gameplan shows the slightest hiccup, and then putting a game away with a few first downs is just so hard for him.

Mary sounds like this cat to me.....

I always thought he sounded genuinely high but the way he trips over himself to say absolutely nothing is unbelievable

When it’s coordinator day and the reporters are in they must just automatically put down their notes for Marty because they know they aren’t getting anything even resembling a quote

um what?
holy shit - im assuming this is also a small sample size thing because that's incredible if not (i mean it's still impressive anyway)
It would be more impressive if we ever had to come from behind in the 4th q but i think we have had the lead every 4th q since he has been qb

Once I think against the Bengals and put us up against the Chiefs. Like everyone else is saying, it's a small sample size. Going off what I've seen in college and so far, he doesn't seem to crumble when the pressure is on. He also looks like someone who loves playing and wants to elevate his game.

He had the fumble in the Chiefs game and that doesn't affect PR and then mostly runs which also do not.

I have said before I prefer QBR to Passer Rating just because it seems to reflect how the player looked on the field better to me though I suspect his QBR in 4th is also fine because lots of rushing.

Not so sure about QBR over passer rating, but agree with everything else. Usually just milking the clock. Pretty sure we've had 2 or 3 games where we've had the ball at least 7-9 minutes the last quarter.

I prefer qbr as well because it takes into account rushing

I love how LJax steps into his throws with his eyes downfield. Such a breath of fresh air after watching Flacco throw off his back foot for the majority of his career.

We didn't always have the lead, but we were never behind. CIN and KC we were tied at the start of the 4th. In both games, we had a scoring drive to take the lead. Against CIN we held it, against KC we didn't.

I've seen the stat that Lamar has the #2 passer rating when playing from behind. Super small sample size, because we just haven't been behind much, but I've noted there were times when we got behind that I was worried about Lamar, but he's come through. Particularly that bomb vs. Chargers. So far that's the big play of his young career.

That’s actually a problem for lamar... he has really impressive step up moments, but he has a lot of moments where he throws all arm and those are the throws that are way off the mark.
