Lamar Jackson

Simple. Lamar Jackson is the only mega star player the Ravens have drafted in their history. I love Ray, JO, Reed, Suggs and the rest a whole lot. They were all super stars and perhaps a few were the best at their positions to ever do it. Lamar though is a whole different animal. He could take over the sport and transcend it. Such is his talent. I'll leave the naysayers to object, but, I'm more than convinced.

Wrong. Incorrect. Both Ray and Ed were megastars of their positions. Stop letting your "fatherhood" ruin your mind my man.

While not having the off field persona, Ed Reed may be the best safety ever to play the game. Absolutely a mega star.

At times Lamar has been the most exciting player in the NFL, but there’s a lot more to be accomplished and written on his resume before he can be mentioned with Ring of Honor guys.

i mean i kind of see his point though - like Ray and Ed were superstars within the game and hall of famers

but very few players transcend the game of football... and lamar kind of does have that effect - he certainly did in his MVP year

no casual fans or people who rarely watch football were turning on the tv on sundays to watch Ray or Ed play and part of that is the fact of the positions they played - certainly those who watched them saw and appreciated their stardom and especially those around the league did too

but lamar legitimately makes people watch him

I can tell you I was turning on the tv to watch Ray and Ed. Especially Ray in 2000. He was absolutely phenomenal. And Ed was a special talent who was always fun to watch. To think we had both of them for so many years.
Lamar has those same unique abilities to change the outcome of a game(s) with his feet and/or his arm.

Ray and Ed didn’t have multiple opposing stadiums chanting mvp. Lamar does transcend the sport, it’s been a short run so far, but Lamar is the type of player that could change the course of nfl history, 15 years from now the nfl could be entirely different because of a Lamar Jackson, a generation of athletes who would’ve played wr or rb previously will now strive to play qb and this could change the future of the position.

Lamar Jackson, thus far, is a different level of superstar than ray and Ed, and i watched their careers live and in person, i idolized them
And grew up on them, I didn’t jump on the ravens bandwagon in the harbaugh era, I’ve been here since the boller days, Lamar Jackson is a transcendental kind of player and ray and Ed were not.

different things - we're not talking about level of play here - no one's suggesting that ray and ed aren't 2 of the greatest to ever play the game and ed's probably the undisputed best safety of all time and ray's in the conversation for best linebacker

but there was never an aura of excitement about them in that they became must watch tv even for non-nfl audiences

no one who doesnt watch the nfl was turning on the tv because of ed reed or ray lewis as much as i love them

but people already do that with lamar - he's a mercurial talent that's "must-see" - we're not even talking about legacy or quality of play - we're talking about transcendental impact

I get what you’re saying here but it’s a bit early to tell if those effects are a lasting legacy.
