Yep.
Who else is due for a contract soon?
next year burrow and herbert are eligible for deals
Yep.

You said the Ravens cant afford to not sign him. I disagree, we may have a rough year or two but the franchise will recover and be fine. I have alot of faith in Decosta finding great talent for years.that's the point, we have a lot of growing pains and it's not that easy to find a franchise QB.
Burrow and Herbert are the big ones. Both are first time eligible after the season. They still have 2 years of control but talks will start at a minimum.Yep.

Any and all of this certainly depends on how this season pans out. At this point huge pressure on LJ, let’s hope he responds well. He's not going anywhere, worst case is he gets the franchise tag and then extended, but he will be a Raven. Will it be hard to fit him under the cap, no question, but it will be done.

You a poet and don’t know it. lolPRESSURE EITHER BUST PIPES OR MAKES DIAMONDS AND NO MATTER THE RAIN MY BOY GON KEEP SHINNIN
IF HE CAN'T HANDLE PRESSURE GET HIM OUT OF HERE.
Agreed.Wrote about this before, but the scenario, to me, is this:
1. Lamar plays on the tag. It's going to be the exclusive tag, because Ravens can't risk the non-exclusive one. He'll cost like $45M or something similar.
2. When that happens, I will assume all of the below players won't be on the roster next year:
Calais Campbell (likely retires anyway)
Gus Edwards
Chuck Clark
I also think Nick Boyle will either be cut entirely, or asked to take a decent sized paycut. At least $2-3M, if not more.
I'd also say they'd need to do something with Zeitler. Either outright cut, which would save a good bit of space, or an extension.
All of that would probably get us to a point where we could have a functional offseason. Not enough to make any splash signings like a Marcus Williams or similar, but enough to acquire cheap or mid-tier veterans to fill gaps.
The elephant in the room is Peters, who's due to be a free agent. It would be challenging to bring him back, but not impossible. If they do, it'll take away a good bit of cap space they have.
Also the Ravens would have to be "cautious" with backloading contracts too much, given that they can't predict what 2024 looks like for Lamar. Another exclusive tag will be closer to $55-60M.
Reality is, he gonna get paid regardless so why not try to get as most as you can?Further confirmation Lamar has no idea what he is doing in these negotiations. Nothing wrong with a lack of agent, but your negotiations need to be based in reality
Aint no pressure.. this is the norm for himAny and all of this certainly depends on how this season pans out. At this point huge pressure on LJ, let’s hope he responds well.
Are you sure he's capable of getting the most that he can on his own?Reality is, he gonna get paid regardless so why not try to get as most as you can?
100% agree with this statement. Are you sure he's capable of getting the most that he can on his own?
I mean if we not willing to pay, seems like he trying to get the most he can right? Guess he gotta prove why he wants what he wants…… now is he just being greedy? Idk lolAre you sure he's capable of getting the most that he can on his own?
More suggesting that the narrative that he's trying to get "all he can" isn't really supportable, considering he doesn't know if an agent could simply get him more money or not. I'd have been willing to bet, if he had an agent, he'd have a lucrative deal already, and probably be establishing a new market. Just not in GTD money.I mean if we not willing to pay, seems like he trying to get the most he can right? Guess he gotta prove why he wants what he wants…… now is he just being greedy? Idk lol
Agent has much more time on his hands so yea he could probably get deal done faster for sure. I dnt think he can drive his price thst much more with ravens but he can get what he is asking for by playing good this season….. also, what can an agent tell the ravens that would get him paid more that lamar hasnt already told them?More suggesting that the narrative that he's trying to get "all he can" isn't really supportable, considering he doesn't know if an agent could simply get him more money or not. Again, historically, player negotiated deals don't seem to be as sweet for the player. Maybe he'll be different, I don't know.
But will see. There's not a whole lot that can happen that I think will drive the price up significantly or down significantly really.
